By: Rodney Rescott

West Lebanon, NY: The legendary Valley of Speed was in full action this past Saturday Night as Freihofer’s and Doherty Brothers Construction presented the night. Included in the nights program was a special 30 lap feature for the Pure Stocks with a $1,000 payday!

For the 3rd week in a row, the Modified Feature event was plagued by several cautions before the first few laps could be completed. This week’s event had the #518 of Kyle Sheldon out in front of the field early with Ryan Larkin’s #39 hot in tow.

But the cautions kept coming. The first caution came with 1 lap on the Kokosa Oil Inc lap counter the saw the #2 of Kale Groff get collected up with John Ruchel, Seth Roberts, and Keith Flach.

Sheldon tore out again into the lead on the green after the cleanup, but caution flew again for another multi-car melee. After 1 additional caution, and after several laps under caution trying to straighten out the correct starting lineup, the field finally got under way.

Sheldon held a comfortable lead all the way till lap 14 when the veteran driver Eddie Marshall powered his familiar #98 along side Sheldon, and shot past in turn 4.

The caution flew again on lap 27 for a slowing #20Q of Matt Quinn, but Marshall was already in the express lane, as he scores his first win in 2010.

Sheldon had to settle for a solid 2nd, with a charging Andy Bachetti crossing the line 3rd. Brett Hearn and J.R. Heffner rounded out the top 5.

The Echo Pro Stock Series 25 lap feature saw the #17 of Nick Hilt hold off all challengers for the entire length of the event to score his first win of 2010. Paul LaRochelle dogged Hilt the entire race, but had to settle for 2nd. Chad Jeseo, Jason Casey, and Jay Casey all battled in the closing laps to round out your top 5 finishers.

The Sportsman 20 lap feature came to a screeching halt on lap 1 as contact with Frank Harper and Ryan Darcy in the first turn sent Darcy spinning in front of the field collecting multiple cars.

After an 8 minute red flag, the racing was back under way with Harper out front of the field and in full control. There was nobody that was gonna make a run on the #25, as Harper scores the win, his first of 2010.

Jeff Watson rolled across the line 2nd with Kolby Schroder, Chad Pierce and Kyle Hoffman to round out the top 5 finishers.

The last event on the night was a special A-Z Landscaping $1,000 to win Pure Stock 30 lap feature! Ron Johnson’s #68 powered out early but by the time they made it back to the stripe, Bob Palmer’s #29 shot around the outside to take over the lead.

30 laps later, Palmer wins by over a half track over Ray Hall Jr, who received a special $250 for being the runner up. Dave Stickles, Al Relyea, and Phil Wood completed the top 5 finishers.

In the regular Pure Stock Features, Chris Gero, Jason Meltz, and Joe Chenail all saw the checkers and scored the win.

Next Saturday Night brings Rifenburg Construction Night with a special $3,000 to win Modified Feature with a couple of surprises thrown in! The Modified King of the Track will make its return as well as the Budget Sportsman. A full card of action and fun are on tap!
