Coming off their impressive performance in Norwalk, Ohio two weeks ago, Greg Anderson and the Summit Racing team came into the first day of qualifying for the NHRA Northwest Nationals in Kent, WA determined to maintain their positive momentum.  Their assignment was complicated by the unseasonably warm conditions, with temperatures approaching 90 degrees, which robbed the naturally-aspirated Pro Stock category of valuable horsepower.  Even so, the Anderson-led crew had a solid first day, with their best effort of 6.656-seconds and top speed of 208.62 mph placing him sixth midway through the qualifying procedure.
 
However, with his KB Racing teammate Jason Line claiming the provisional No.1 position at Pacific Raceways and the forecast calling for significantly better conditions on Saturday, the two-time Seattle winner looked to better his standing during his final two attempts, armed with information gathered from a familiar source.
                              
“Although I was crushed by my own teammate today, the information from his runs will help us with my car tomorrow,�?? said Anderson.  “I know we were a little soft on the clutch with my Summit Racing Pontiac, which is an easy fix, and we’ll study the data from his runs to determine what else we need to do. Fortunately, seeing how well he ran today shows us what we are capable of, which makes us feel pretty good about our chances for improving tomorrow.  We’ll figure out what we did right with his car, adapt it to mine and get after it again in the morning.  
 
“If the weatherman is right, it’s going to be a lot cooler, so today’s runs won’t mean a lot, so there is no reason to panic.  We know what we can run and should run, now we just have to go out and do it.�??
