August 12 fishing competition to be held on scenic Wampler’s Lake in Brooklyn, Mich.
BROOKLYN, July 9, 2010: The name speaks for itself.
Michigan International Speedway’s non-profit arm, MIS Cares, will host a “Fish Your Bass Off” tournament at Jerry’s Pub & Restaurant on scenic Wampler’s Lake just minutes from the speedway.
The tournament is 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, August 12.
Fans are invited to join the festivities at Jerry’s Pub from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. and may visit the MIS Cares website at MISpeedway.com/MISCares to purchase a $35 admission ticket to the event, which includes dinner.
Festivities during the fund-raising event will include bass weigh-in, a question and answer session with featured guests, dinner and drinks from a cash bar. The National Bass Anglers Association will conduct the ever-popular weigh-in of bass announced by ESPN Outdoors commentator Mark Zona and professional bass angler Kevin VanDam, both Michigan natives.
Live and silent auctions featuring signed NASCAR memorabilia will be held, with all funds benefiting MIS Cares. There will also be NASCAR personalities in attendance throughout the evening including 1983 NASCAR Cup Series champion Bobby Allison, who will be fishing in the tournament.
“We’re extremely excited to host our ‘Fish Your Bass Off’ Tournament to benefit MIS Cares,” MIS Director of Government and Community Affairs Alisha Cottrell said. “We’ve had a lot of positive response from our fans and partners to make this fishing tournament a fun way to kick off the Sprint Cup Series CARFAX 400 race weekend at MIS.”
Sponsors of the event include, Yoder’s Market, the Ryan Newman Foundation, Country Market, Matthew Logan DDS, Mid-America Machining and Plentz Chiropractic Clinic.
Nestled in the lush Irish Hills of Southeastern Michigan, Michigan International Speedway is the Great Escape, a venerable NASCAR national park where fans can get away and enjoy the very best in racing and camaraderie. It’s the love of racing and the thrill of a great time for race fans and drivers alike.
