Dover International Speedway Donates K'NEX Toys Statewide To Boys & Girls Clubs Of Delaware

DOVER, Del. – Children in Delaware received a special delivery last week from the Dover International Speedway pace truck. K’NEX toy sets were delivered statewide to 13 Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware. The K’NEX toys included a variety of construction sets including dragsters, sports cars, helicopters, formula cars and monster trucks.

The toys were donated to Dover International Speedway by the Dale Jr. Foundation and The NASCAR Foundation, recipients of $100,000 in K’NEX toys during the May 16, 2010 Dover International Speedway race weekend. In all, over 19 charities will receive the toys, and one of those charities was the Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware.

“The Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware is pleased to be the recipients of the K’NEX toy donation provided by Dover International Speedway,” said Darrell Tingle, executive director of the Greater Dover Boys & Girls Clubs. “Members at 13 sites across the state will be able enhance their creative abilities and develop self confidence through play with the educational K’NEX toys. The donation will assist the Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware to continue to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.”

The toys were delivered to Boys & Girls Clubs in Wilmington, Claymont, Dover, Seaford, Milford, Smyrna, Millsboro, Georgetown, Middletown and Newark, Delaware.

K’NEX toys are also being contributed to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Delaware as part of Dover International Speedway’s “Adopt a Family” initiative around the holidays. The toys sets will be wrapped and given to needy families as children’s gifts.
