Chrysler Australia To Appoint New Managing Director
CANBERRA – July 5, 2010: After seven years at the wheel of Chrysler Australia, Managing Director, Gerry Jenkins has been appointed to the task of leading Chrysler China, the best performing international market for Chrysler globally and the world’s largest vehicle market.
“Living and working in Australia has been a rewarding experience that I will cherish forever,” said Chrysler Australia, Managing Director, Gerry Jenkins.”
“The opportunity to live and work in China couldn’t have come at a better time. We have some exciting products on the way and the emphasis placed on the Chinese market has never been greater.”
As of August 1st, 2010, Gerry Jenkins will officially start his new role as CEO and President, Chrysler China, based in Shanghai.
“Back in 2003, Australia did not figure on Chrysler international's top 15 markets sales report. We're now in third place, inches from second and I'll certainly be watching their progress from a distance,” said Jenkins.
Following the international launch of the all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee in California last week, Mr Jenkins was confident about the Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge brands in Australia.
“After experiencing the all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee, I know Chrysler Australia will continue to grow in importance for both Chrysler and the Australian market,” concluded Jenkins.
