BECKMAN BAGS NO. 3 IN NORWALK QUALIFYING

NORWALK, Ohio (June 26, 2010) - Racing the Valvoline/Mail Terminal Services
Dodge Charger Funny Car, Jack Beckman qualified No. 3 for the fourth annual
NHRA Nationals in Norwalk, Ohio.

The defending event champion clocked in at 4.060 seconds at 310.27 mph in
the cooler Friday night session. Earlier that day he posted a 4.229/294.05,
good for No. 5 at the time.

He completed only one qualifying session on Saturday, recording a strong
4.204/291.38 in the heat of the day, then rain cancelled the second half of
the final round before Beckman reached the starting line.

³Strange weekend," said Beckman. "Friday night our 8:00 p.m. session got
postponed until 10:45 p.m. (because of track incidents). I donıt think
calling it Œspookyı is stretching it too much. I mean, it was dark out there
and we ran well and ran great in the two daytime sessions. And we get up
there for this final session and it gets rained out.

"But here is where we put ourselves in a great position. We didnıt need to
get that run. Weıve got great data for tomorrow and weıre real confident
that if it's cloudy and overcast or the sunıs out we know how to go down the
race track. We are definitely in shape for four round wins tomorrow.²

Beckman faces Jim Head in the opening round of Sunday's eliminations.
