NACF: New Poll Shows Small Business Owners Want Legislation for Clean Energy
HOUSTON--National Clean Fuels (Pinksheets:NACF). A new nationwide survey shows that a majority of small business owners believe that enacting clean energy legislation will strengthen the American economy. The support is particularly strong among African-American and Hispanic business owners. Sixty-one percent of the small business owners surveyed agreed with the statement that moving the country to clean energy is a way to restart the economy and help small businesses create jobs. Fifty-eight percent of those surveyed think that adopting new energy policies will transform the economy and they want their businesses to be part of it.
“One of the most surprising findings of the survey is that despite the fact that nearly two-thirds of business owners believe it would increase costs for their businesses, a majority still want to move forward on clean energy and climate policy”
Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research and American Viewpoint surveyed 802 owners, managers, and chief executives of businesses with 100 or fewer employees between March 24 and April 6, 2010.
"One of the most surprising findings of the survey is that despite the fact that nearly two-thirds of business owners believe it would increase costs for their businesses, a majority still want to move forward on clean energy and climate policy," said Anna Greenberg, senior vice president and principal of Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research.
The House of Representatives passed its version of a clean energy bill in June 2009. In the Senate, the American Power Act was introduced last month by Senators John Kerry and Joe Lieberman. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada has said he wants to move to a vote in July.
