DEARBORN, June 22, 2010: Last year, Bob Tasca III and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing team took their Ford Shelby Mustang Funny Car to the Final round at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio. This year, the team wants to take it one step further – this time all the way to the Winner’s Circle. After a victory in Englishtown two weeks ago, followed up by a semi-final round appearance in Bristol last weekend, Tasca is very confident in the performance of his Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford Shelby Mustang Funny Car.
“I went to the Finals at Norwalk last year and I’m hoping to do the same there this year,” said Tasca. “We’re going there to win. My confidence as a driver and in this team is extremely high. We have got a race car that is going to do a lot this season. This Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford Shelby Mustang is just an absolute missile right now.” As the closest NHRA facility to Ford Motor Company headquarters in Michigan, Summit Motorsports Park serves as the home track for Tasca’s sponsors Motorcraft and Quick Lane. This weekend the team will host many of the executives and employees for the Ford Customer Service Division brands.
“Norwalk is the home track to my sponsors Motorcraft and Quick Lane, and also for Ford Motor Company,” said Tasca. “It’s a race where a lot of executives from Ford will be out and I think that’s a special part of racing for Ford. When you get executives from the highest levels of the company that come out to the race, it just really shows their passion and dedication to what we do. I know my team really appreciates that. When you race for a company that shows those same emotions that you have about this sport it really just makes you want to go out there and work harder to succeed.” Ford Mustang Funny Car drivers have won nine of the 12 NHRA races so far this season. With a win at Englishtown this year and stellar performance throughout this season, Tasca is an active contributor to that success.
“What a program to be a part of right now,” said Tasca. “Just being a part of it makes me excited to get back in that car for the next race as soon as possible because I know I have such a great chance of winning. When you have five Ford Mustangs that are capable of running Low ET and Top Speed of that session, we can learn so much faster. It’s just an exciting time to be a part of this program right now.”
