Alstom, Transmashholding and Kazakh Railways (KTZ) Sign an Agreement for the Creation of a Joint Company to Manufacture Electric Locomotives in Kazakhstan

LEVALLOIS PERRET, France--Regulatory News:

Patrick Kron, Chairman and CEO of Alstom (Paris:ALO), Andrey Bokarev, Chairman of Transmashholding and Askar Mamine, Chairman of Kazakh Railways (KTZ) signed an agreement for the creation of a joint venture company to produce electric locomotives in Kazakhstan.

This agreement was signed at the XIV St Petersburg International Economic Forum. It follows the signature on 3 June in Almaty (Kazakhstan) of a Memorandum on mutual cooperation. This agreement will benefit from French government financial support.

The locomotives manufactured by this joint venture will incorporate technologies developed by Alstom and Transmashholding. They will also include components from the French-Russian consortium and from Alstom’s Belfort factory (France). The production of components will gradually be delocalised to Kazakhstan.

According to the terms of this agreement, the locomotives manufactured by the joint venture will, as a first priority, fulfil the requirements of Kazakh Railways and could then be exported to other countries.
