SONOMA, CA  (6-18-10) –  Blake Koch and the Golden Gate Racing Team look to continue their rally in the point standings of the 2010 NASCAR K&N Pro Series West Saturday afternoon with a mid-pack start in the Thunder Valley Casino- Resort 200 at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, California. Koch will start in the 14th position Saturday as the series enters it first road course race of the year.
Friday afternoon, Koch took to the 1.99 mile Infineon Raceway aboard the Daystar Television Network Chevrolet with the second group of qualifiers. After his fastest lap of 79:610, he earned the 14th starting position for Saturday's race. In previous road course events, Koch is known for charging his way to the front from deep in the field.
"I feel like I got everything out of the car that I could," said Koch, who was 14th in practice on Friday as well. "It's very consistent so we will be there at the end for sure."
Last year, Koch started deep in the field and finished 13th in his first road course event at Sonoma. He continued strong showings throughout his rookie season on the road course events despite limited experience. Recently he drove his way into the spotlight in an ARCA event where he started at the rear of the field and clinched a 3rd place finish on rain tires at Palm Beach International Raceway.
Saturday afternoon, track position will be the key for Koch and the Golden Gate Racing Team as they will look to vie for the checkered flag when it comes to the closing laps of the race. Koch will be joined by teammate Jason Bowles who earned the pole position in Saturday's race aboard the Thunder Valley Casino Resort #31.
Koch and GGRT have two top five finishes and three top tens in the 2010 NASCAR K&N Pro Series West. Following their recent rally to the front, Koch is now 7th in the series point standings and will eye moving towards the top five this Saturday with a strong run.
