AutoWeek and ZF Host Inaugural Fantasy Driving Camp
DETROIT--The AutoWeek/ZF Fantasy Camp, held June 18, 19, 20, is an insider experience unlike any other. Some 20 fortunate car fans have paid to test-drive the top 10 midsize sedans as voted on by autoweek.com visitors. Over this three-day period they will test drive, evaluate and write about their experience. The Fantasy Camp is held in partnership with ZF, a tier-one automotive supplier.
“Our readers are passionate. They always ask what it’s like to drive these cars. We’re going to let them… and let them write about their experience, too.”
The event gives participants the chance to drive on the Ford test track, rub elbows with AW editors, meet Indy 500 champion Danny Sullivan, go head-to-head in a friendly slot-car race, and, ultimately evaluate cars and write about them.
“This is the baseball fantasy camp idea at the next level,?? said AW Publisher KC Crain. “Our readers are passionate. They always ask what it’s like to drive these cars. We’re going to let them… and let them write about their experience, too.??
Throughout April, some 50,000 voters winnowed a field of 28 to get the finalists. Fantasy campers will undergo driver training, will put their “journalist hats on?? and chronicle experiences through blogs, photography and videos posted to autoweek.com, live from the Dearborn Development Center in Dearborn, Mich.
The campers’ evaluations will be used with those from AW editors to determine the best mid-size sedan in America. The top-10 finalist cars are:
