HILLSBOROUGH, June 11, 2010: The Hillsborough Concours d’Elegance Foundation today announced that it will host its 54th annual Concours d’Elegance at the 18th fairway of the Crystal Springs Golf Course on Sunday, September 12, 2010 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Historically held in May at the North Elementary School playing fields in Hillsborough, the Hillsborough Concours d’Elegance will relocate to the Crystal Springs Golf Course due to its ideal location for Bay Area enthusiasts along highway 280 and the beautiful and scenic layout adjacent to the Crystal Springs Reservoir. Joining the festivities for the first time is children’s charity, Autism Speaks, alongside the 49ers Foundation and the Hillsborough Schools Foundation.

For 54 consecutive years, the Hillsborough Concours d’Elegance has built and maintained a proud tradition of honoring and celebrating excellence in automotive design and engineering. The passion of the Concours leadership and volunteers, pride of its entrants, and the loyalty of its attendees has earned Hillsborough the proud record as the longest continually running Concours in the world.

“The Hillsborough Concours is part of the very fabric of our Town and we’re delighted to support this wonderful tradition in any way we can,” said Christine Krolik, Town of Hillsborough Mayor.

“We are thrilled that the Hillsborough Concours d'Elegance Foundation is continuing to make donations to the Hillsborough Schools," said Margi Power and Kelly Scandalios, Hillsborough Schools Foundation Co-Presidents.

Celebrating its centennial, the featured marque car of 2010 will be the stylish Italian sports cars of Alfa Romeo. With contributions from both local and national collections, a special Alfa display will comprise some of the greatest road and racing cars produced by the automaker.

The 18th fairway will also feature several generations of Ford Thunderbird’s to complement more than 20 different judged classes of automobiles, to total more than 200 cars. For the first time in its history, the Hillsborough Concours also will host a variety of Car Clubs from around the state in a new Club Corral area. The new venue at Crystal Springs Golf Club makes this expanded layout possible, with more space to display these beautiful and rare cars.

Signifying the importance the organizers have placed on the quality of the event, Rob Fisher, Concours Chairman and Hillsborough resident said, “Car owners and enthusiasts from far and wide have long supported the Hillsborough Concours d’Elegance and we felt it was of paramount importance to locate a venue that would provide the best experience and value for our attendees and participants. As the longest continuously running Concours in the world, our event needed a setting with the quality, elegance and layout befitting this world-class gathering.”

“Crystal Springs is pleased to be the new site of the Hillsborough Concours d’Elegance,” said Steve Bratcher, General Manager of Crystal Springs Golf Course in Burlingame. “Crystal Springs is easy to get to and a magnificent setting for golf, an unusual combination in the urban Bay Area. It also makes it a classic backdrop for events that serve the community. The Concours and Crystal Springs are proud of their long history in the Bay Area and also share a commitment to giving back. The blend of classic golf and classic cars is the perfect complement to one another.”

In addition to managing the event, the Hillsborough Concours d’Elegance Foundation was established to significantly extend the philanthropic reach and impact of this great tradition. Proceeds from the Event and its associated activities will now benefit Autism Speaks, a national charity with the goal to change the future for all who struggle with autism spectrum disorders; the 49ers Foundation, which supports development programs for underserved youth that keep them ‘Safe, on Track and In School;’ and the Hillsborough Schools Foundation.
