Englishtown, Jeg Coughlin Jr. enters this weekend’s Englishtown race as the third ranked Pro Stock driver in the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series. Thus far in 2010, Jeg has recorded victories in Houston and Atlanta to go with a runner-up finish in St. Louis.

Jeg Coughlin is the defending Pro Stock champion at the NHRA SuperNationals. He defeated Mike Edwards in the final round. Jeg has also claimed wins at this event in 1998 and 2000. He was also a runner-up here in 2002 and 2007.

In 270 career Pro Stock races, Jeg has reached the final round 80 times, recording 50 wins. Including his 14 sportsman victories, Jeg has won a total of 64 times, good for ninth place on NHRA’s all time wins list. During his career, Jeg has appeared in 99 final rounds, 80 as a professional and 19 as a sportsman racer.

With 50 career Pro Stock wins, Jeg ranks fourth all-time among Pro Stock drivers. Only Warren Johnson (97), Bob Glidden (85) and Greg Anderson (60) have more titles.

In 11 career appearances at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park, Jeg has a round win record of 23-8 in Pro Stock competition.

Jeg Coughlin is a four-time NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series Pro Stock champion. He earned season titles in 2000, 2002, 2007 and 2008. As a sportsman driver, Jeg also claimed the NHRA Super Gas championship in 1992.

As a sportsman racer, Jeg also won the Super Gas title at the 1997 Englishtown event. That season, he set an NHRA record by winning a national event title in four different classes; Pro Stock, Comp, Super Stock, and Super Gas.

Jeg has qualified in the top half of the Pro Stock field in 8 of his 11 appearances at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park including a best of No. 1 in 2000. Jeg has qualified No. 1 15 times in his career.

In 2009, Jeg enjoyed one of his best years as a professional racer winning seven of 23 events and reaching the final round in two others. He compiled a round-win record of 50-17, the second best record in the class.

During his Pro Stock career, Jeg has recorded 451 round wins while incurring just 207 losses. He has failed to advance past the opening round just 62 times.

Jeg is ranked No. 5 in the K&N Horsepower Challenge standings. The K&N Challenge is a special event that will take place in Norwalk, Ohio on June 26. It is a special $50,000 to win event that is open only to the top eight Pro Stock racers based on their qualifying performance over the previous year. Jeg won the 2000 version of the K&N Challenger, which was held at Route 66 Raceway.

Jeg will once again be doing double duty in Joliet as he will also be racing his JEGS.com Dodge Challenger Drag Pak entry in Stock eliminator. Jeg has previously won national event titles in Pro Stock, Comp, Super Stock, Super Gas, and Top Dragster. If he were to win a Stock Eliminator event, he would become the first driver in NHRA history to win in six different classes

Jeg will be joined in Joliet by his fiancée, Samantha Kenny, who will also be competing in Super Comp with her JEGS.com dragster. Samantha is a former national event winner.

Troy Coughlin will be competing in the Get Screened America Pro Mod Series race in Englishtown with his nitrous oxide-equipped JEGS.com Chevy Camaro. Troy is one of just two drivers to qualify for the first four events of the 2010 season.

Troy is currently ranked fifth in the Get Screened America Pro Mod series, but is just 36 points out of first place.

In Englishtown, Jeg will continue to promote the JEGS “Win this Car” contest on the hood of his Cagnazzi Racing Pro Stock entry. The Win this Car contest is a special promotion to celebrate the 50th anniversary of JEGS Mail Order. As part of the promotion, one lucky JEGS fans will win a yellow and black 2010 Chevy Camaro.
