Families of Fallen Oklahoma Police Officers Supported with Ride4Cops Motorcycle Ride to State Capitol
OKLAHOMA CITY--Each year, approximately 150 police officers nationwide are killed in the line of duty and their families and co-workers are left to cope with the tragic loss. Harry Herington, Chief Executive Officer of NIC Inc., is riding across the country to raise money for the National C.O.P.S. program through Ride4Cops (www.Ride4Cops.com). The mission of Ride4Cops is to raise awareness of the inherent dangers of law enforcement and the sacrifices made by the families of fallen officers.
“This is a wonderful opportunity that NIC’s Harry Herington has provided for our chapter and the families who benefit from our services”
On Friday, June 4th at 2:00pm on the south plaza steps of the Oklahoma state capitol, the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety (DPS) Commissioner Kevin Ward, President of Oklahoma Concerns of Police Survivors (OKCOPS), Carol Botts, other OKCOPS members, Oklahoma Law Enforcement, family members of fallen officers, employees from Oklahoma Interactive, LLC (OK.gov) and parent company NIC will demonstrate their united support for the Oklahoma C.O.P.S. chapter by making a stop at the state capitol and participating in the Ride4Cops program. A motorcycle ride will then proceed at approximately 3:00pm to the Oklahoma Law Enforcement Memorial located on the west grounds of the DPS Headquarters, 3600 M. L. King Avenue in Oklahoma City.
Supporting the needs of the families left behind is the core mission of Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.), a national not-for-profit organization.
“This is a wonderful opportunity that NIC’s Harry Herington has provided for our chapter and the families who benefit from our services,?? said Carol Botts, OKCOPS President. “We appreciate any assistance that allows us to help rebuild a family’s life after the tragic losses they endure when any one of our great heroes is killed in the line of duty. The public can find ways to donate to C.O.P.S. through our local chapter Web site at http://www.okcops.org.??
Ride4Cops has committed to raising more than $125,000 during the next three years for C.O.P.S.
