ASA USES SOCIAL MEDIA TO HELP PROMOTE SHORT TRACK RACING
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
American Speed Association PR
DAYTONA BEACH, FL (Tuesday, May 18, 2010) - Racing is a sport about traditions and
that tradition just isn't shown by the competition on the track. Track and series
promoters also tend to be traditional on how they market themselves as well. But
that has changed over the last two years as many, including the American Speed Association,
has added social media to their marketing plans.
Websites like Facebook®, Twitter(TM) and YouTube(TM) have now become part of a track
or series marketing plan as they have become affordable ways to get their message
out to a large mass of fans at the same time.
In November, the American Speed Association created its own page on Facebook® (www.facebook.com/american.speed.assoc).
Without any heavy marketing about the page, ASA has so far obtained 1,200 followers.
The main goal of the page is to provide a link to its website, www.asa-racing.com,
for the latest news and updates from its ASA Member Tracks and sanctioned series.
With the interaction that Facebook allows, ASA is able to see which fans the stories
like and get their immediate feedback.
Along with Facebook®, ASA also has created a following on Twitter(TM) as well (twitter.com/amerspeedassoc).
ASA has linked up its Twitter(TM) account with Facebook® so when a new story is
posted on Facebook® a "tweet" will go out as well notifying of the new story.
With many people using Twitter(TM) on their smart phones, this will help get the
news faster to them.
YouTube(TM) (www.youtube.com/americanspeedassoc) became instrumental for ASA when
they visited the Republic of South Africa this past January. Using a simple video
producing program, ASA was able to upload short daily video diaries showing race
fans back in the United States what was happening. ASA Public Relations is working
on creating short videos promoting the different ASA Member Tracks and Series throughout
the 2010 season, another way of helping promoting the great short track racing seen
all over the USA.
"I will admit that I have been impressed with the number of followers on Facebook®,
Twitter(TM) and amount of times our videos have been viewed on YouTube(TM)," Dennis
Huth, ASA President said. "What has been great is that the cost to set these up
was nothing yet it reaches a lot of people, it's immediate and it's effective.
With YouTube(TM), we are capable of putting the videos on our site to compliment
a story along with promoting our ASA Member Tracks and Series thus making our site
very interactive with various multimedia formats available."
Fans visiting any of these sites can sign up for FREE to follow the American Speed
Association action and news. Just visit the links above to sign up today.
The ASA Member Track program is comprised of dirt and asphalt short tracks along
with road courses around the United States, as well as a variety of regional and
national touring series. For more information, call (386) 258-2221 or send an e-mail
to info@asa-racing.com. For news and information from all the racetracks and tours
involved in the ASA, visit www.ASA-Racing.com.
ASA®, ASA Racing®, American Speed Association® are registered trademarks of Racing
Speed Associates, LLC. ASA International, LLC or Racing Speed Associates, LLC are
not related to or affiliated with ASA Late Model Series.
