Topeka, Jeg Coughlin enters this weekend’s Topeka race on a high note following an historic weekend at the most recent event in Commerce, Ga., where the five-time NHRA champion recorded his landmark 50th Pro Stock victory and 64th overall NHRA title. Appearing in his third final of the season, Jeg defeated Rickie Jones.

Following his Atlanta victory, Jeg is the third-ranked driver in the NHRA Full Throttle Pro Stock standings. Jeg trails second place Allen Johnson by just 19 points.

With 50 career Pro Stock wins, Jeg ranks fourth all-time among Pro Stock drivers. Only Warren Johnson (97), Bob Glidden (85) and Greg Anderson (60) have more titles.

Jeg won the Pro Stock title at the 2000 Topeka event, driving his Team JEGS entry to a final round win over Darrell Alderman. Jeg also has a runner-up finish at this event in Pro Stock 1998, in his first appearance at Heartland Park Topeka as a professional. Jeg lost to Warren Johnson in that final.

As a sportsman racer, Jeg won the Super Stock title in Topeka in 1994 and earned a runner-up finish in Competition Eliminator in 1997. That season, he set an NHRA record by winning national events in four separate classes; Pro Stock, Comp, Super Stock, and Super Gas.

In 11 career appearances at Heartland Park Topeka, Jeg has a round win record of 18-9 in Pro Stock competition.

Jeg has qualified in the top half of the Pro Stock field in 8 of his 11 appearances at Heartland Park Topeka including a best of No. 1 in 2000.

In 268 career Pro Stock races, Jeg has reached the final round 80 times, recording 50 wins. Including his 14 sportsman victories, Jeg has won a total of 64 times, good for ninth place on NHRA’s all time wins list. During his career, Jeg has appeared in 99 final rounds, 80 as a professional and 19 as a sportsman racer.

Jeg Coughlin is a four-time NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series Pro Stock champion. He earned season titles in 2000, 2002, 2007 and 2008. As a sportsman driver, Jeg also claimed the NHRA Super Gas championship in 1992.

In 2009, Jeg enjoyed one of his best years as a professional racer winning seven of 23 events and reaching the final round in two others. He compiled a round-win record of 50-17, the second best record in the class.

Jeg will once again be doing double duty in Topeka as he also plans on racing his JEGS.com Dodge Challenger Stock Eliminator entry.

During his Pro Stock career, Jeg has recorded 451 round wins while incurring just 205 losses. He has failed to advance past the opening round just 60 times.

Jeg is ranked No. 4 in the K&N Horsepower Challenge standings. The K&N Challenge is a special event that will take place in Norwalk, Ohio on June 26. It is a special $50,000 to win event that is open only to the top eight Pro Stock racers based on their qualifying performance over the previous year.

In Topeka, Jeg will continue to promote the JEGS “Win this Car” contest on the hood of his Cagnazzi Racing Pro Stock entry. The Win this Car contest is a special promotion to celebrate the 50th anniversary of JEGS Mail Order. As part of the promotion, one lucky JEGS fans will win a yellow and black 2010 Chevy Camaro.
