Delaware, May 9, 2010: Jeg Coughlin and the JEGS.com Team enters this weekend’s Atlanta race on a high note following an historic weekend at the most event in Madison, Ill., where Jeg nearly pulled off an elusive double victory with a win in the Top Dragster class and a runner-up finish in Pro Stock.

Jeg Coughlin Jr. enters this week’s NHRA Southern Nationals as the third-ranked driver in the NHRA Full Throttle Pro Stock standings. Jeg moved up three spots following his runner-up finish in Madison.

Jeg won the 2000 Atlanta event, defeating Bruce Allen in the final round. He was also a runner-up at this race last year, losing to Mike Edwards in the final.

As a sportsman racer, Jeg also won the Comp Eliminator title at the 1997 Atlanta race. That season, he set an NHRA record by winning national events in four separate classes; Pro Stock, Comp, Super Stock, and Super Gas.

In 11 career appearances at Atlanta Dragway, Jeg has a round win record of 14-8 in Pro Stock competition.

Jeg Coughlin is a four-time NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series Pro Stock champion. He earned season titles in 2000, 2002, 2007 and 2008. As a sportsman driver, Jeg also claimed the NHRA Super Gas championship in 1992.

In 2009, Jeg enjoyed one of his best years as a professional racer winning seven of 23 events and reaching the final round in two others. He compiled a round-win record of 50-17, the second best record in the class.

Jeg has qualified in the top half of the Pro Stock field in 7 of his 11 appearances at Atlanta Dragway including a best of second in 2003. His average qualifying position at this track is No. 7

With 49 career Pro Stock wins, Jeg ranks fourth all-time among Pro Stock drivers. Only Warren Johnson (97), Bob Glidden (85) and Greg Anderson (60) have more titles.

Following his victory at in the Top Dragster class at the Madison race, Jeg will once again be racing in a sportsman eliminator in Atlanta as he returns to the seat of his JEGS.com Dodge Challenger Stock Eliminator entry.

In 267 career Pro Stock races, Jeg has reached the final round 79 times, recording 49 wins. Including his 15 sportsman victories, Jeg has won a total of 63 times, good for ninth place on NHRA’s all time wins list. During his career, Jeg has appeared in 98 final rounds, 79 as a professional and 19 as a sportsman racer.

During his Pro Stock career, Jeg has recorded 447 round wins while incurring just 205 losses. He has failed to advance past the opening round just 60 times.

Jeg is ranked No. 4 in the K&N Horsepower Challenge standings. The K&N Challenge is a special event that will take place in Norwalk, Ohio on June 26. It is a special $50,000 to win event that is open only to the top eight Pro Stock racers based on their qualifying performance over the previous year.

The JEGS Mail Order Team will also be represented in St. Louis by Troy Coughlin Sr., who will be driving his JEGS.com Camaro in the Get Screened America Pro Mod Series. Troy is currently ranked sixth in the GSA Pro Mod points standings. He is one of just five drivers who have qualified for each of the first three races of the 2010 season.

At the most recent event in Madison, Troy drove his nitrous oxide-equipped Camaro to a semifinal finish.

Troy Coughlin is the reigning National Muscle Car Association (NMCA) Pro Street champion. He has previously raced in NHRA Pro Stock competition, recording three wins in 13 final round appearances.

On Thursday night, May 13, the Coughlin’s Jeg Sr., and his wife Sue, Jeg Jr., and fiancée Samantha Kenney, along with team owners Victor and Brita Cagnazzi will be attending the Coke Night of Champions dinner, a special event held annually at the Coca-Cola headquarters in Atlanta that salutes the champions of the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series.

In Atlanta the JEGS team will continue to promote the JEGS “Win this Car” contest, a special promotion to celebrate the 50th anniversary of JEGS Mail Order. As part of the promotion, one lucky JEGS fans will win a yellow and black 2010 Chevy Camaro.
