Eicher Trucks April sales up 97%

Eicher Trucks and Buses has posted a 97 per cent growth in sales for April at 3,045 units, its highest-ever monthly sales.

According to the company, the recently launched heavy-duty trucks called ‘VE Series' have recorded a robust 290 per cent sales growth in the month, which is much more than the commercial vehicle industry's growth rate. In the five tonne and above category, Eicher has recorded a growth of 107 per cent in April.

Mr Somnath Bhattacharjee, Executive Vice-President (Sales, Marketing and Aftermarket), VE Commercial Vehicles, said, “The V-shaped recovery in commercial vehicle demand due to stronger economic activity has created significant pressure on capacity ramp-up, especially for the component suppliers.”

On the export front, however, the company has seen a marginal dip. “The reason for this can be attributed to a longer lead time of vehicle delivery owing to longer supply lead time of components,” it said.
