Here is a peak of what is happening this weekend. ASA SERIES ASA MIDWEST TOUR, ASA MIDWEST SPORTSMAN TOUR, ASA MIDWEST TRUCK TOUR (Madison International Speedway, an ASA Member Track in Oregon, WI) The fourth season of the ASA Midwest Tour Super Late Model Series will kick off this Sunday, May 2 with the 2nd Annual Joe Shear Classic at Wisconsin's Fastest Half-Mile Oval. Over 44 cars are already pre-entered for the 136-lap event. Joining the Super Late Models will be the ASA Midwest Sportsman Tour and the ASA Midwest Truck Tour in their debuts. www.asamidwesttour.com ASA PRO AUTO SPORTS, BONDURANT CHAMPIONSHIP RACE SERIES (Firebird International Raceway, Chandler, AZ) Two of the finest ASA-sanctioned road course series will be in action at the famous Firebird International Raceway this weekend. The Bondurant Championship Race Series has a tight points battle between three drivers. www.proautosports.com www.bondurant.com/championship-race-series ISCARS DASH TOURING SERIES SANCTIONED BY ASA (Hickory Motor Speedway, Hickory, NC) The popular compact car series kicks off its 2010 season this Saturday night at the famous Hickory Motor Speedway. It will also mark the debut of the new Honda Accord that was unveiled at the 2009 Performance Racing Industry Trade Show in December. Will Danny Bagwell continue his winning streak or will 1986 Daytona 500 champion Geoff Bodine have something to say about that? www.iscarsonline.com ASA IRA OUTLAW SPRINT CAR SERIES (Beaver Dam Raceway, Beaver Dam, WI) After suffering a rainout last weekend. The ASA IRA Outlaw Sprint Car Series will head down the road to Beaver Dam Raceway for their first visit at the 1/3-mile clay oval. It will be a great night for 410 Winged Sprint action. www.irasprints.org ASA NORTHWEST LATE MODEL TOUR (South Sound Speedway, Rochester, WA) The second of the 2010 season is set for this Saturday night at South Sound Speedway located near Tenino, WA. The IPM 125 will feature some of the best Northwest Super Late Model drivers as they tour around the 3/8-mile oval. www.asanorthwesttour.com ASA MEMBER TRACKS ACE SPEEDWAY (Elon, NC) It will be a busy weekend as Ace Speedway will have two nights of racing action. On Friday night, the Limited Sportsman, Modifieds and Extreme divisions will be in action. Then on Saturday, the UARA Late Models will be competing in a 150-lap feature event. The Mini-Stocks, SGP Sportsman, and SGP Modifieds will also be in action. www.acespeedway.com BIG COUNTRY SPEEDWAY (Cheyenne, WY) The first ever ASA sanctioned event in the state of Wyoming will take place this Saturday night at Big Country Speedway, located just outside of Cheyenne, WY. The Super Stocks, MOD4, Micro Sprints, Warriors, Dwarfs, and Legends will be in action. Main gates open at 3 p.m. with racing at 6 p.m. www.bigcountryspeedway.com DELLS RACEWAY PARK (Wisconsin Dells, WI) The 1/3-mile oval located just outside of the popular tourist destination will host its season opener this Saturday night with the Cabin Fever 75 for their Late Model division. The 4-Cyl Figure 8's, 4-Cyl Road Course, Flyin 4's, Magic 4's, Mini Stocks, Modified Minis, Pure Stocks, and Bombers will be competing this Saturday night. Mother Nature shortened the program last week, so it will be the Racecar Engineering Late Models and the Outlaw 4's that run 2 Action Packed Features. Also running this weekend is the Limited Late Models, Street Stocks, Old Time Mods and the Dirt Daubers. After rain has delayed the opener for the last two weeks, racers and fans alike are ready for some action. Local divisions taking to the track for their first points race of the year, include Whitney's Auto Group 360 ASCS Sprint Cars, Shipwreck Beads Modifieds, the Cut Rate Auto Parts Hobby Stocks and the Hornets. Gates open at 5:00 p.m. with racing at 7:00 p.m. www.havasu95speedway.com ILLIANA MOTOR SPEEDWAY (Schererville, IN) Anthony "The Boss" Danta and Fast Eddie Hoffman head the list of local talent to take on the traveling drivers as the Michigan based ASA LATE MODEL SERIES visits the Historic Illiana Motor Speedway, an American Speed Association sanctioned track for the second annual "Run for the Roses" 100-lap main event Sat. Nite May 1st. Josh Nelms of Lockport, IL a former track champion and Robbie Pyle in the John Brolick owned mount are also entered. Also on the night's card will be the Van Senus Auto Parts Turbo Stocks, the "Wild & Crazy Pure Stocks and "First time ever" Super Cups on the quarter mile. Grandstands will open at 4pm, qualifying at 5:30 and Racing is scheduled to start at 7pm. The WoO winner will take home $10,000. www.jacksonspeedway.com MERIDIAN SPEEDWAY (Meridian, ID) This Saturday marks the debut of the Hometown Team Racing Series with a double main event for the ESI Express ASA Modifieds, a return of the Pepsi Sprintcars, a 50-lap main event for the College of Western Idaho Professional Truck Driving School Street Stocks, the Tates Hornets and the 2010 debut of the Thunder Dogs. It's also the first Racing for Smiles of the Northwest night at the racetrack. www.meridianspeedway.com ORANGE SHOW SPEEDWAY (San Bernardino, CA) Orange Show Speedway is having a birthday party this week. The first race at a track that began life as a clay oval built around a football field was on Thursday, May 1, 1947. Bill Zaring won that night's main event for United Racing Association Midgets. This weekend, the quarter-mile paved oval turns 64 on Saturday, May 1, and Best in the West Racing is celebrating the milestone with a racing program that includes the ASA Super Late Models, Team Too Pony Stocks, Interstate Batteries Factory Fours, Stock OHV Karts and a Trailer race. Gates open at 4 p.m. with qualifying at 5 p.m. and racing at 6 p.m. www.rmrracing.com SHANGRI LA II MOTOR SPEEDWAY (Tioga Center, NY) The Concrete Duals on May 1 promise to be a spectacular kickoff to the 2010 season with dual main events in each division. The Modifieds will double up on 25-lap features, the ASA Late Models and Sportsman Modifieds will contest a pair of 20-lap main events, and the Street Stocks will go to the post for twin 15's. Pit gates open at 10:00 a.m. and grandstand gates at 11:30.
