NOTES
Jamie McMurray and No. 1 Bass Pro Shops(r)/Tracker Boats Team
Sweet Home Alabama: McMurray and the No. 1 team will return to
Superspeedway racing this weekend at Talladega. After an impressive
February Speedweek's at Daytona coming home with the 500 trophy, the
team certainly looks to be a contender at the 2.66 tri-oval. McMurray
has won the last two restrictor-plate races in the NASCAR Sprint Cup
Series having won the 2009 fall event at Talladega and the 2010 Daytona
500. His victory marked his best finish at Talladega where he also has
four top-five's and five top-10's. His best start was in the 2003 fall
race when he started on the outside pole.
Texas Recap: McMurray led early for 10 laps in the Samsung Mobile 500
and spent most of the day running in the top 15. However, McMurray
found himself involved in a nine-car incident on lap 317, with nowhere
to go. The wreck forced McMurray and the team to the garage settling
for a 30th-place finish.
Meet with McMurray: Attention Race Fans- Come to the local Bass Pro
Shops located in Leeds, AL at 5000 Bass Pro Boulevard this Thursday,
April 22 where Jamie McMurray will be on-site from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30
p.m. (CST). McMurray will be participating in a 30 minute Question and
Answer Session immediately followed by an hour autograph session (one
autograph per person, as time allows).
Visit your Local Bass Pro Shops: There is no better time of year than
the spring to get out and enjoy the Great Outdoors. Race fans and
outdoorsmen alike can visit the Leeds, Alabama location at 5000 Bass Pro
Boulevard about 40 minutes from the track for all of their outdoor
needs. The Leeds, Alabama store can also be reached at 205-702-7500.
Fish Found Indoors: Bass Pro Shops has 50 retail locations in 26 states
and Canada. Between all store locations there are 134 freshwater and
saltwater aquariums holding 1.75 million gallons of water and over
15,000 fish.
World Wide Known: McDonald's has locations across the world making
their famous Golden Arches known on six continents. A new McDonald's
opens every four hours somewhere worldwide.
Juan Pablo Montoya and No. 42 TUMS Team
MEDIA ALERT: Juan Pablo Montoya will be available at the No. 42 Target
hauler for a brief media Q&A session on Friday, April 23rd at 11:00 a.m.
(CST)
Fast Relief for the No. 42: This weekend TUMS will serve as the primary
sponsor of the No. 42 Chevrolet at Talladega Superspeedway. TUMS first
became a Target racing partner in 2007 and this will be Montoya's second
time representing the TUMS brand. For more than 75 years, TUMS has been
a fast, effective treatment for heartburn and acid indigestion,
neutralizing stomach acid on contact. Today, TUMS is the number one
antacid in America, used by more people than any other brand to treat
heartburn. TUMS is an excellent source of calcium and can be found
nationwide at most drug, grocery and mass merchandise retailers. Visit
www.TUMS.com for more information.
Making an Appearance: Montoya will be making an appearance at the TUMS
display on Saturday, April 24 in the Fan Zone at Talladega
Superspeedway. Montoya will sign autographs for fans following his
qualifying run on Saturday afternoon. Fans are encouraged to stop by
prior to the event to receive a ticket for the signing. Tickets are
limited.
Talladega History: Montoya will take the green flag for his seventh
NASCAR Sprint Cup Series start at Talladega Superspeedway this weekend.
He made his stock car racing debut at the 2.66-mile track in 2006.
Montoya is the reigning pole-sitter for this event and averages a
15th-place start and an 18th-place finish in six previous starts. The
2008 spring event marked his best finish at the Superspeedway, where he
started 26th and raced his way to the second-position.
Defending Pole-sitter: Montoya drove the No. 42 TUMS Chevrolet to the
pole position in the 2009 spring event at Talladega Superspeedway
posting a speed of 188.171 mph at a time of 50.89 seconds. He will look
to defend his pole position this Saturday when qualifying gets under way
at 10:35 a.m. (CST).
Last Weekend: Juan Pablo Montoya and Team Target had a top-10 finish
within their grasp and with 17 laps remaining that strong run came to an
end. Montoya took a hard hit to the wall after going through the grass
when trying to avoid the on-track incident in front of him. The Target
Chevrolet was towed back to the garage and the team was credited with a
34th-place finish at Texas Motor Speedway.
TUMS Fun Fact: It would take 337, 075 TUMS to fit around the 2.66-tri
oval of Talladega Superspeedway and 109,900,800 TUMS to fill the inside
of the 53' transporter trailer top to bottom.
