Here is a glimpse to what is happening this weekend. If you are near one of these events, take the time to check it out as "We Build Champions" for 2010. ASA IRA OUTLAW SPRINT SERIES (Beaver Dam, WI) The 2010 ASA Sanctioned Bumper-to-Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint Series will take its' first green flag of the season this Saturday night, April 17th, in the 11th annual Rick Schmidt Memorial contested on the high speed half-mile Dodge County Fairgrounds Speedway located just east of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. The US Army presented event is the first of thirty-three slated for the upper-Midwest's premier race series. Joining the IRA 410's will be the Midwest Sprintcar Association (MSA) 360's in a unique Sprint Car doubleheader. Warm-ups are slated for 4:45, with IRA qualifying to let loose at 5:30, and racing to begin just after 6 pm. A solid field in both groups is anticipated. A open practice will be held at the Dodge County facility on Friday night the 16th, from 5 til 9pm. http://www.irasprints.org DESOTO SUPER SPEEDWAY (Bradenton, FL) Racing action returns to Desoto Super Speedway this Saturday night after the half-mile oval hosted Car Wars last weekend. The TBARA Wing Sprints, Outlaw Modifieds, Pure Stocks, Street Stocks, Flyin' 4's, Magic 4's will be in action. Gates open at 5:00 p.m. and racing gets underway at 7:00 p.m. http://www.desotosuperspeedway.com DILLON MOTOR SPEEDWAY (Dillon, SC) Make your plans to attend ASA-sanctioned, Dillon Motor Speedway this Saturday night for more local racing excitement. Also on the card that night will be the Gagel's Open Wheel Modifieds, Outlaw 4's, Motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers along with the Racecar Engineering Late Models and East Bay Sprints. So come out and cheer on your favorite drivers this weekend here at the "Clay By The Bay"! http://www.eastbayracewaypark.com GRAYS HARBOR RACEWAY (Elma, WA) The 2010 racing season gets under way at the ASA track member Grays Harbor Raceway this Saturday Night at the fast 3/8's clay oval located at the Fairgrounds in Elma, Washington. Local divisions taking to the track for their first points race of the year, include Whitney's Auto Group 360 ASCS Sprint Cars, Shipwreck Beads Modifieds, Triple X Ford Focus Midgets, and the Cut Rate Auto Parts Hobby Stocks. Start times are a little different this year as the front gate will open at 4:30 pm, time trials at 5:30 pm, with racing to start at 6:30 pm. http://www.graysharborraceway.net HAVASU 95 SPEEDWAY (Lake Havasu City, AZ) The Lucas Oil Modified Racing Series, presented by Rockstar Energy Drink, returns to action this weekend, April 17th, for the running of the Lucas Oil Products 75. Round two of the series schedule will be held at the Havasu 95 Speedway, a challenging ASA sanctioned quarter mile paved oval, located in Lake Havasu City-Arizona. Gates open at 4 p.m. Racing at 6 p.m. Also in action...Modified Track Championship, ASA Street Stock Championship, Factory Stocks, and Powder Puff. http://www.havasu95speedway.com ILLIANA MOTOR SPEEDWAY (Schererville, IN) The Illiana Motor Speedway will kick off its 63rd season of Stockcar racing this Saturday nite April 17th featuring six divisions of racecars as part of our weekly ASA Member track program. Headlining the historic half mile action will be the lighting fast super late models, the new and improved Schepel performance limited late models along with newly designed Hoosier racing tires, track records are expected to fall. The quarter mile track will see action from the popular Turbo Street Stocks, Legend cars, the wild and crazy four cylinder pure stocks and a kid favorite, the "Flying Bandoleros" return. Also new for 2010 Illiana style double file restarts for all divisions. The Late Models, Chargers, Street Stocks, Mod 4's, Pure 4's, and Renegades will be in action. http://www.thepineraceway.com MERIDIAN SPEEDWAY (Meridian, OH) Racers are excited to get the 2010 season going at the improved ASA-sanctioned Meridian Speedway in Idaho. The historic quarter-mile oval's 59th season begins Saturday with races for the NAPA Latemodel Sportsman, ESI Express ASA Modifieds, Project Filter Pro-4s, College of Western Idaho Professional Truck Driving School Street Stocks and Tates Hornets. Racers at Thursday's first practice echoed praise others had expressed for the new surface during April 10-11 test and tune. Most are pleased with the grip the first complete repaving in more than 40 years has brought to the track. More banking is expected to produce faster lap times. http://www.meridianspeedway.com ORANGE SHOW SPEEDWAY (San Bernardino, CA) This week, the Orange Show Speedway regulars will play a supporting role when the SRL Spears Southwest Tour Series makes it first visit to the paved quarter-mile oval for the Citizens Business Bank 135. Eddie Secord, a past Pro 4 champion at the track, is among the local drivers expected to challenge 2009 champion M.K. Kanke, past champion Jim Pettit II and others. The SRL Spears tourists will be supported by the Team Too Pony Stocks, Budweiser Legends Cars, Stock Cars USA and the debut race for the Dwarf Cars class.
