DEARBORN, Mich., April 14 -- Fuel-efficient Ford powertrains drive to the forefront at SAE World Congress
Ford is letting its powertrains do the talking at the 2010 SAE World Congress, with the announcement of three new fuel-efficient powertrains to meet customer demand. The new engines include a 1.6-liter Ti-VCT Sigma I-4, a 2.0-liter direct-injection Ti-VCT DuratecŪ I-4 and a 2.0-liter Ti-VCT EcoBoost(TM) I-4. Ford engineers will share the technical development story behind the Fiesta, which is projected to deliver a best-in-class 40 mpg on the highway. Ford's dramatically improved quality is resulting in customer benefits across the board - including higher resale values and fewer warranty repairs. The resale value of newer Ford vehicles rose 23 percent in the past year alone and repair rates on Ford vehicles declined by an average of more than 40 percent globally in the past three years. On average, the redesigned 2010 Ford Taurus is selling 50 percent higher at auction than the 2009 Taurus after one year in service. Similarly, the 2010 Ford Fusion V-6 commanded 26 percent more at auction than the 2009 model after one year in service. more...

For customers waiting to get their hands on the F-150 SVT Raptor with a 6.2-liter engine, the wait is over - it's now available at dealerships nationwide. In fact, nearly 3,000 customers have already placed orders for the 6.2-liter version. The optional 6.2-liter V-8 produces 411 horsepower and 434 ft.-lb. of torque - making Raptor the most powerful half-ton pickup on the market. Ford Racing Performance Parts also offers items to take F-150 SVT Raptor to new extremes and ensure it's ready for any off-road adventure. Building on its ONE Ford plan, Ford announced it is increasing funding for Ford Brazil from $2.2 billion to $2.4 billion from 2011 to 2015 - marking the largest single amount the company has invested in its Brazilian operations during a five-year window in its 90-year history in the country.
