Frank Kimmel Ready for ARCA Return to Texas Motor Speedway
MOORSVILLE, N.C. (April 6, 2010) -Frank Kimmel is set to lead the field of ARCA
drivers back
to Texas Motor Speedway (TMS), ending ARCA's 11-year absence from the 1.5-mile
oval. The only other time the ARCA
Racing Series Presented by RE/MAX and Menards competed at TMS was in 1998, when
Kimmel captured the pole, leading the field to the green flag.
After capturing the pole in 1998,
Kimmel went on to lead the race before getting caught up in a wreck after only
32 laps. Since that race at TMS, Kimmel's career has rocketed. He went on to win
the ARCA Racing Series
championship in 1998, the first of what is now a record nine ARCA Series Championships.
"I'm looking forward
to getting back to Texas," explained Kimmel. "We have had good luck there, we
ran really fast there in the race when ARCA first went there. We sat on the first
pole, that was exciting,
and ended up getting crashed out of the race but I thought we had a really good
opportunity to win at TMS, so I am looking forward to going back. It is a different
venue, and for our team, it's
been a while since we have been there, so it will be like a new racetrack for
us. I can't wait to just go and compete."
On-track activities for the Rattlesnake
150 will begin with practice and qualifying on Thursday, April15. Fans will
have the opportunity to enjoy a full day of racing action at TMS on Friday as the
NASCAR Nationwide and Sprint Cup Series will begin practice and qualifying
before the ARCA Racing Series event begins at 6:30 p.m. CDT.

Frank Kimmel and the
No. 44 Ansell/Menards Fast Facts
Welcome Back: Frank Kimmel leads the field of ARCA drivers
back to racing action at Texas Motor Speedway (TMS). He is one of two drivers that
competed in the
inaugural ARCA race in 1998, Brad Smith is the other.
About Salem: Frank Kimmel
battled a loose car all day enroute to a hard-fought eighth-place finish in
Sunday's Kentuckiana Ford Dealers ARCA 200 presented by ApplianceZone.com [http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?et=1103302580741&s=420&e=001bPZBgvxYBsQXnB4ue7cC8kjWGfXGc2_51PxB-kpjOKr_zG5fgFTan6jcOLaiO3ISVxz5vUNuU6JW1Fom7xZGSMpzzSICIfzIvj5rA30QPRXGhWxLJuHsPw==].
The Ansell/Menards team worked hard on the
car all day, and was able to overcome going a lap down early in the race to
pull out their first top-10 finish of the season. "That was a hard-fought
finish for us," explained Kimmel. "The guys worked really hard in the
pits today. We threw everything at it, but it seemed like no matter what we
did we couldn't get the car handling; we tried everything we could think
of. The weather was hot, which made the track slick. We are going to throw
that setup away and try again next time. I'm just looking forward to going
to Texas next week."
Chasing the Record Books: If you look at the ARCA Racing Series
presented by RE/MAX and Menards record books, there are not many lists that do
not include Frank Kimmel. This season, Kimmel
looks to break his own record of nine championships and win a record-setting 10thARCA
Racing Series Championship. His
sights are all set on breaking the all-time ARCA win record. With 74 career ARCA
victories, Frank is six
wins shy of breaking the record held by Iggy Katona.
In The Points: Kimmel's 8th-place
finish at Salem Speedway moved him up one position in the series point
standings. He now stands in 10thposition, 170 markers behind Steve Arpin and Justin
Marks, who are tied for
first.
Tune In: Live
race coverage for the Rattlesnake 150 begins at 6:30 p.m. CDT on SPEED. Log on to

streaming and timing and scoring during the event.
Frank Kimmel Quotes
What
will be the biggest challenge at Texas Motor Speedway?
"We didn't go test so the biggest challenge
will be getting our car ready and up to speed right off the bat. Some of the other
guys will have an advantage
on us because they were there testing a couple of weeks ago and they already understand
the place a little bit and have some ideas as far as setups and things like
that, so we are going to be a little bit behind nut I think we can adjust very
quickly and try to go after them."
How does your team prepare for such a busy
stretch of racing in the month of April?
"It's really a difficult time for everybody
in the ARCA Series because we have so many races and the problem is that they
are different types of venues so it is a challenge. We go from the short track at
Salem and turn
right around and go to an intermediate track like Texas, so you have to take a
good intermediate car there, then you turn right around and in a couple days
you have to be at Talladega which is another car that's completely
different. There is a lot of travel
involved and the logistics of getting people and equipment from one place to
the other. There is a lot to it and it's
a stressful situation for everyone involved trying to get ready to go to the
next race."
