LE MANS 24-HOURS AND AMERICAN LE MANS SERIES CHAMPION TO TEACH KIDS TO WIN

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

HOLLYWOOD, CA
SCBA # 168010-934 PI

WHO:

Racers Who Care spokesracer, David Brabham, will share with troubled kids his personal Quick Tips on Winning in Life, at Los Angeles' Vista Del Mar Child and Family Services Center, on April 15, 2010. The young audience members will be psychologically and emotionally impaired children and teens. THIS PRESENTATION IS NOT OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.

One of the world’s leading sportscar racers, 2009 was a dream season for David in which he took outright victory in the prestigious Le Mans 24 Hours and was crowned the American Le Mans Series LMP1 champion. Considered a legend of the ALMS, as the only driver in Series history to capture pole positions and wins in the GT1, GT2, LMP1 and LMP2 categories, Brabham competes for Highcroft Racing in the newly combined ALMS LMP class in 2010.

He will be in Southern California to compete in round two of the ALMS at Long Beach on April 16-17. Born in England, raised in Australia, and a long-time resident of Henley-on-Thames, England, David is the youngest son of Sir Jack Brabham, Formula One World Champion in 1959, 1960 and 1966: the first driver to win an F1 title in a car of his own construction (’66) and to be knighted for services to British motorsport. David’s brothers, Geoff and Gary Brabham, are successful racers in their own right.

David’s double 2009 Le Mans and ALMS titles sealed an important year for the entire Brabham family, as Sir Jack celebrated the 50th anniversary of his first F1 World title in 1959.

The Quick Tips on Winning in Life presentations are an avenue through which professional racers can add deeper meaning to their racing experience by giving back to the communities where they live and race, by inspiring, affirming, empowering, and fueling the dreams of children and teens.

VISTA DEL MAR:

Founded in 1908 as The Jewish Orphan’s Home of Southern California, Vista Del Mar began serving children living on the streets of Los Angeles whose parents could not care for them because of illness, poverty, or death. By placing orphaned children in an innovative cottage setting with house parents rather than the institutional environment typical of the time, Vista became known as one of the finest residential programs in the country.

Over the course of time, as societal needs changed, Vista kept pace with the changing needs of children. Branching out into areas of foster care, adoption, and the treatment of children with mental health problems, emotional problems, behavior problems, social problems, or developmental difficulties, in 2008 Vista remains one of the preeminent social service agencies serving children and their families in Southern California.

The agency maintains its fine residential program for troubled children and teens, as well as one of only three special care facilities in the State. With the addition of its divisions: Reiss Davis Child Study Center, Julia Ann Singer Center, HomeSAFE and Family Service of Santa Monica, Vista is truly one of the most comprehensive care facilities for children experiencing mental health problems, behavioral problems, emotional problems, or social problems.
