Line Opens Houston Qualifying in Fifth

Qualifying for the O’Reilly NHRA Spring Nationals got underway on Friday with two sessions at Houston Raceway Park, with the Pro Stock contingent enjoying nearly ideal conditions.  As a result, teams were severely tested to make the most of the opportunity.  After opening with the ninth-quickest time in the afternoon session, Jason Line and his Summit Racing team picked up the pace in the evening round, improving to a 6.567-second time with a top speed of 211.20 mph to claim the fifth position midway through qualifying.  
 
“Although our Summit Racing Pontiac improved on tonight’s run, it still wasn’t what we were looking for,�?? said Line.  “It actually started shaking the tires just before I shifted.  As close as the competition is right now, you have to make good runs every time out, which we just aren’t doing with either car right now.  
 
“We know the potential is there for both Greg’s and my cars to run with the best, but need to be able do it consistently.  We’ll go over the data from all of our runs and see what we can find, so we can come up with a game plan for tomorrow.  We certainly have our work cut out for us.�??
