SLOUGH, UNITED KINGDOM – April 8, 2010: A new search for young music stars begins tomorrow (8 April) with the first of a series of live shows being brought to television by Fiat.

Called Evo Music Rooms, the new Channel 4 series features the best of the UK’s up-and-coming unsigned acts, along with a dazzling array of established recording stars including Faithless, Doves and Biffy Clyro, all of whom will perform to a live audience in a specially created music venue.

Launched earlier this year in association with the new Fiat Punto Evo, Evo Music Rooms has caught the imagination of songwriters, musicians and music fans across the UK. More than 2,000 acts originally applied to take part in the project – a number that was whittled down by a panel of experts and the voting public, to just six finalists.

More than 170,000 people visited Evo Music Rooms on-line at www.evomusicrooms.com with over 65,000 voting for their favourite. Additionally, at least 5000 fans have followed Evo Music Rooms on the Facebook social networking forum.

Now, every week throughout April, a live show will be recorded for television as the six finalists live their dream of appearing on the same stage as their idols at Evo Music Rooms.

The live shows, hosted by Radio 1 presenter Edith Bowman, bring together the star headliners who will share the stage with Evo unsigned artists. It’s an innovative concept in which star acts open and close the night, with a new act getting its chance in the limelight. On this week’s show, newcomer Cathy JJ appears with Doves, The Drums and ska legends The Specials.

“The Fiat Punto Evo is about evolution and innovation and this incredible musical initiative reflects our forward-thinking approach,” says Elena Bernardelli, marketing director, Fiat Group Automobiles UK and Ireland. “Music is going through a great period right now and we are delighted to be moving with it in our own special way.”
