Having Fun in Houston on Line’s To Do List
Mooresville, N.C., April 7, 2010 – In the last two races, Summit Racing driver Jason Line has been among the best in the Pro Stock category, with his win and final round appearance allowing him to climb into second place in the Full Throttle championship standings. Even so, the 2006 champion is far from satisfied, realizing his team has yet to tap into their race car’s full potential. Therefore, as he arrives in Houston, TX for this weekend’s O’Reilly NHRA Spring Nationals, Line hopes to deliver a complete performance, maintain his forward progress and have fun.
“This Summit Racing team has been on a pretty good roll lately, but we know we still have some work to do,?? said Line. “We’re still chasing (points leader Mike) Edwards, and although he’s a great guy and we like him, we’re just tired of him having all the fun. We think it’s about time we had some fun, but we want to earn the right to do so by beating him, as well as everyone else, and we’re working hard to do just that.
“Motivation is certainly not a problem, and never has been. After all, when this KB Racing team gets to the shop each morning, our common goal is to find a way to not only put ourselves back at the top of the page, but to keep us there at every race. We’re paid to win, and that is what we want to do.??
Aiding the 2006 champion in his efforts to return to the winner’s circle is the location of this weekend’s race, Houston Raceway Park. Featuring a lightning-fast racing surface and horsepower-friendly air, it is often the site of the quickest runs of the season. It has also been a good track for Line, who first raced in Baytown in the sportsman ranks.
For example, since scoring a runner-up finish to his teammate Greg Anderson in his first Pro Stock visit to HRP in 2004, he has compiled an impressive record, posting two No. 1 qualifying performances and a 2.5 average starting position as well as one win and a total of three final round appearances in his previous six starts.
“Houston Raceway Park has historically been a pretty good track for me,?? said Line. “I used to love going there back in the day with my Stocker, because it allowed me to get away from the cold in Minnesota and enjoy the warmer climate in Texas. We’ve also had pretty good success in Baytown with my Summit Racing Pontiac, a trend which we naturally would like to continue this weekend.
“The conditions can be really fast there for our naturally-aspirated engines, which we feel works in our favor. We just need to get both Greg’s and my cars running better. It won’t be easy, but we certainly feel we have a shot at leaving Houston with the trophy.??
