However, Tim George, Jr. is no rookie at the historic short track and heads into Sunday's Kentuckiana Ford Dealers ARCA 200 presented by Appliancezone.com with experience in his back pocket and the checkered flag in his sights. George and the No. 31 Richard Childress Racing (RCR) Development Chevrolet takes to the .555-mile Southern Indiana oval on Sunday, April 11, 2010 for the Kentuckiana Ford Dealers 200 presented by ApplianceZone.com, the third race of the 2010 ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards. While George has had strong qualifying efforts in his past two performances at the historic Salem Speedway, his bout of bad luck has overshadowed the overall performance. In last year's spring event, George started 12th but, after a well-fought effort, an accident resulted in a 24th-place finish. "I'm excited to race at the first short track of the ARCA schedule," said George, who will enter the Salem event eighth in points. "This will be my third time at Salem, but the first time at a short track in a RCR car. I'm looking forward to putting that Chevy power down with my guys who have been hard at work, because we have a busy next three weeks on the racing calendar." Some of the ARCA Racing Series' most legendary drivers have won at Salem, including Iggy Katona, Jack Bowsher, Bobby Allison, Bob Keselowski, Tracie Leslie and Frank Kimmel. George is looking to add his name to the Salem Speedway winner's list. After all, it has been said that "if a man goes fast at Salem, he can go fast anywhere.". The Kentuckiana Ford Dealers 200 at Salem Speedway, the 87th appearance of the ARCA Racing Series, is scheduled for a green flag at 2:15 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time on Sunday, April 11. Front gates will open at 10 a.m. for the general public. In 2008, Tim George Jr. was named Rolex Series MESCO "Building for the Future" Rookie-of-the-Year, while driving for The Racer's Group. He has two GT class podium finishes in the Rolex 24 at Daytona, finishing third in 2008 and second in 2009. The 29-year old driver made his transition to stock cars running full-time in 2009 in the ARCA Racing Series for Eddie Sharp Racing, finishing 11th in the point standings with one top-5, two top-10 and six top-15 finishes.
