This series has had a strong following over the last 13 years, driver's from many different backgrounds and is geared up for continued growth with some 'new blood'. The ASA Trucks are ready to go racing in Arizona at the Havasu 95 Speedway this weekend. The initial driver roster includes veteran drivers like Jim Putman, Shawn Steele and Jason Black, who have a lot of experience to share with the new competitors. The competition is tough and the series 2009 Champion Joey Licata is returning to defend his championship and consistent season with the United Nissan team from Las Vegas. There are many new faces ready to run an entire season and vie for a championship like Mike Herda, Taylor Miinch, Eric Sloan, and Zach Sawyers. Some of the drivers that were not long ago considered 'rookies' are now maturing into strong contenders to have top finishes in their sights are Donny St. Ours, Branden Underwood, and Dylan Kwansnewski to name a few. The 2009 Rookie-of-the-Year, Cole Cabrera, is ready to run a full season after a prior commitment keeping him from running Havasu 95, but look out for him at the Lucas Oil I-10 Speedway in Blythe, California to catch up quickly to his competition. Seasoned veteran Jeff Catlin, Mike Kai and multi-time champion Darren Young are all ready to represent Arizona in upcoming road course races like Firebird International Raceway. Drivers Jeremiah Wagner, Jack Madrid and Team Freightliner plan to return to the ASA Truck Series and demonstrate their talent at tracks like the Las Vegas Motor Speedway's Bullring. Everyone loves running at the fast, 1/2 mile high bank TOYOTA Speedway at Iwrindale and turn-out should be great for the ASA Trucks at this event. We hope to attract new drivers and bring out trucks that have been patiently waiting to return to the race track. The McLauchlan's are excited to bring their twenty-plus years' experience in racing to the ASA Truck Series. They participated in the series and realize its potential.
