KYLE CATTANACH BATTLES BACK TO NINTN PLACE FINISH AT ROSEVILLE
Â
IRVINE, Calif. (March 31, 2010) – 25 year-old
Kyle Cattanach recovered from early race trouble driving the #88 Superior
Crankshaft Chevrolet in the 2010 SRL SPEARS Southwest Tour Series opener on
Saturday, to bring home a ninth place finish.
Â
“Kyle and
the entire Superior Crankshaft team did a great job this weekend,?? Motorsports
Marketing Manager Marty Melo said. “We were quick right off the trailer and had
a great debut showing in the Roseville.??
Â
The race
was held before a sold out crowd at the one-third mile asphalt oval All
American Speedway in Roseville, Calif. The events were part of the
NASCAR K&N Pro Series West weekend at the venue.
Â
On Friday
and Saturday’s practice, Cattanach maintained a solid position on the charts
while working with his new team and sponsor. On Saturday afternoon, Cattanach qualified
11th out of the field of 32 cars from all over the western United States.
Â
Early in
the 125 lap race, Cattanach spun to avoid an accident in turn one. The spin
dropped Cattanach a lap off from the leaders.
Â
Cattanach
battled through the pack to put himself in position to earn the lucky dog award.
After earning the lucky dog to get back onto the lead lap, Cattanach maneuvered
through the field again to run in fifth place.
Â
He was
challenging for the fourth place position with just over 10 laps to go when the
power steering belt broke on the Pepper Jack Kennels sponsored car, which
forced Cattanach to engage in a fierce battle to just hang onto a strong top
ten finish.
Â
The
former North State Challenge Series and ASA Speed Truck Series runner-up did a
fine job managing the car to the finish to cross the stripe in ninth.
Â
“It was
very exciting to see the Superior Crankshaft car running up front,?? Superior
Crankshaft CEO Cheryl Archer said. “But what was even more exciting was to be
apart of this amazing grassroots racing event. The SRL SPEARS Southwest Tour is
an excellent series.??
Â
Kyle
Cattanach and the Superior Crankshaft team will next compete at Orange Show
Speedway in San Bernadino, Calif. on Saturday April 17. The event
will be the second points paying race for the 2010 SRL SPEARS Southwest Tour.
