Propel Technology: Close Collaboration Creates Audio Excellence in Jaguar XJ
LONDON--An exclusive partnership between Jaguar and premium loudspeaker company Bowers & Wilkins for the 2011 Jaguar XJ, has achieved what is believed to be “the best sound system in-car??. Bowers & Wilkins’ close collaboration with Jaguar’s design and engineering teams ensured optimal placement of speakers right at the start of the design process, and together with the use of advanced components and technologies such as the first applications of Audyssey MultEQ and Dolby Pro Logic IIx, together with DTS Neo:6, allowed the companies to significantly progress in-car audio performance.
“Bowers & Wilkins’ expertise in this respect is reinforced by our close working relationship with the world’s leading recording studios such as Abbey Road Studios and the Skywalker Sound”
Ensuring a remarkable premium audio experience for a variety of media in the Jaguar XJ, Bowers & Wilkins pushed hard to extract the best possible results from the 1200W system for all. The XJ is the first Jaguar to offer discrete 5.1-surround sound decoding in the form of Dolby Digital and DTS audio from DVD or USB source. This provides true multichannel surround, delivering the content as the artist intended and further adding to the challenge of faithfully reproducing sound in the car.
With an increased number of media formats, a variety of passenger conditions, and various listening modes available the task was to apply extensive audio experience to provide a ‘true sound’ experience at all times. Acoustic engineers have adeptly perfected an engaging sound experience whether the source of entertainment is music or a movie. “Bowers & Wilkins’ expertise in this respect is reinforced by our close working relationship with the world’s leading recording studios such as Abbey Road Studios and the Skywalker Sound,?? claims Bowers & Wilkins' director of strategic business Martin Lindsay.
The introduction of the XJ system extends the Bowers & Wilkins’ offering from the XF through to the XK, demonstrating the commitment from both parties to offer the best sound performance across the range. “The close working relationships allows us to continually evolve and improve performance,?? concludes Lindsay.
Bowers & Wilkins has over 40 years’ of audio engineering experience. It makes the world’s most advanced home cinema, hi-fi and iPod® speakers, which are used by Abbey Road Studios and music lovers everywhere. Its New Media products redefine the audio experience for the digital consumer.
