Jason Line Scores Runner-Up Finish at Inaugural 4-Wide Nationals

Summit Racing Pro Stock racer Jason Line continued his string of strong performances on Monday, powering to a runner-up finish at the rain-delayed completion of the 4-Wide Nationals in Concord, NC.  After advancing to the second round prior to the postponement on Sunday, Line used a quick 6.617-second, 209.56 mph pass to advance to the third round of this unique four-wide race.  
 
Although he posted his best reaction time of the weekend at .020 and covered the quarter-mile in 6.632-seconds, 209.36 mph, it fell just shy of Mike Edwards 6.596-second effort, which was the quickest pass of eliminations.  Even so, Line crossed the finish line ahead of Greg Stanfield and Bob Yonke, allowing him to claim the runner-up position and corresponding championship points.  This marked the 45th final round appearance of Line’s career and second of the 2010 season, allowing him to move into second place in the Full Throttle championship standings.  
 
“It’s an accomplishment any time you make it to the final at one of these races, so it was still a pretty good day for the Summit Racing team,�??  said Line.  “Although we didn’t make a very good run in the final, we were still able to finish ahead of the other two cars and claim the runner-up position.  Looking at the data afterward, it looks like we were a little off on the tune-up, because it just about shut off the motor when we let the clutch out.  Still, it was a solid performance by everyone on this KB Racing crew.
 
“It’s nothing personal, but we’re getting a little tired of Mike (Edwards) beating up on us.  However, he has been doing a great job, so my hat’s off to both he and his crew.  We were able to get him in Gainesville a couple weeks ago, and we’ll try to get him again in Houston. It’s easier said than done, but I believe we’re up to the challenge.
 
“As for the four-wide format, I think it just took a little while for all of us to get acclimated to it.  After all, we’ve been trained to do the same thing for years.  However, as you saw in the final, it was a clean start by everybody with four decent lights, which, considering we had only one weekend in which to do it, is pretty good.  We’ll be back in our normal routine in Houston, and we’ll be looking to finish one spot higher.�??
