TULLAMARINE, AUSTRALIA – march 26, 2010: Honda’s CR-Z has captivated the Japanese auto market, achieving orders of 10,000 vehicles in its first month of sales.

This figure is ten times higher than targeted.

Yearly sales targets for the CR-Z are 40,000 to 50,000 units worldwide.

Forty per cent of buyers have selected the manual transmission, showing its popularity among driving enthusiasts.

The Honda CR-Z is the world’s first 6-speed manual transmission hybrid car, featuring an efficient petrol-electric hybrid engine assisted by Honda’s IMA parallel hybrid system. A unique 3-Mode Drive System has also been added to maximise driver choice and enhance the driving experience, allowing motorists to choose between three driving modes that alter the responses of the throttle, steering, idle stop timing, climate control and the level of assistance provided by the IMA system.

The second in a line of hybrid cars from Honda, the two-door compact, which features a driver-focused chassis and responsive engine within a stylish coupe body, is set to change current perceptions of hybrid cars around the world.
