MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA – March 23, 2010: MINI John Cooper Works World Championship 50 #273 will make a guest appearance at this year’s Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix, in Melbourne this week.

One of just ten vehicles destined for Australian shores and one of only 500 vehicles of its kind in the world, this exclusive race-bred MINI will be sure to command the attention of race-goers and enthusiasts at the Albert Park circuit.

“This will be the first time the limited edition MINI John Cooper Works WC50 will be shown at a public event and what better place than at one of Australia’s premier motorsport events,” said Justin Hocevar National Manager MINI.

“The MINI WC50 represents the rich racing heritage of MINI and furthermore it celebrates the 50th Anniversary since Australia’s very own Sir Jack Brabham that drove the F1 Cooper to its first Formula 1 victory in 1959,”said Justin.

MINI dealers are already fielding high volumes of interest and are actively taking deposits for these highly desirable vehicles, of which only ten lucky customers will be granted bragging rights.

Of the ten MINI John Cooper Works World Championship 50 vehicles, nine will be allocated and sold via the MINI dealer network while the 10th and 500th vehicle worldwide, will be auctioned. Details and timing of the auction will be confirmed shortly.

Sharing the same powerplant as the MINI Challenge race vehicles, the MINI John Cooper Works World Championship 50 will be on display along side the Series race machines at the MINI Challenge paddock at the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix, March 25-28.
