As the home of the 2008 National Champion and the 2009 West Region Champion, they hope to be a major player in the 2010 chase. "I'm excited that Thunderhill Raceway (THR) is returning as an ASA sanctioned track for another season," said Mary Ann Naumann, Owner/Promoter at THR. "ASA and Dennis Huth just seem to be getting better every year. I'm proud that THR is the home track for the first ASA national champion, Cary Stapp in 2008, followed by a regional champion in 2009 with Clint LaFont. We know our Super Stock drivers are some of the best in the country, and their performance over the past two years has proven it." Stapp went into the history books in 2008 as the first ever Joe Gibbs Driven Racing Oil ASA Member Track Champion. He and his wife enjoyed a trip to Charlotte where he got an official tryout with Joe Gibbs Racing. Last year, Thunderhill almost had its second Track Champion become the National Champion as Clint LaFont put on a late season charge but came up 0.0593 points short to the 2009 champion Tommy Cloce to finish second in the overall standings. Their run to be the home track for the 2010 Joe Gibbs Driven Racing Oil ASA Member Track National Champion begins this Saturday, March 20th. The season opener will feature the Texas Super Racing Series Late Models, Allison Legacy, Texas Pro Sedans, Dwarf Cars, SportMods, ASA A-Line Super Stocks, Thunder Stocks, Grand Stocks and Mini Stocks. Grandstand gates open at 4 p.m. with racing at 6:00 p.m. Fans who arrive early can participate in a driver autograph session at 5:15 p.m. "We are excited to have Mary Ann and her staff back as an ASA Member Track for 2010," Dennis Huth, ASA President said. "They have had a lot of success with the Joe Gibbs Driven Racing Oil ASA Member Track National Championship and it wouldn't surprise me to see one of their drivers near the top of the standings. Their participation in our program has really helped their track shine on the racing map especially with the success their drivers have had. It will be fun to see if it shines brighter this season." The unique formula used to determine the champion not only includes where they finished but how many positions they moved up in each feature event. Which will provide the best weekly short track racing action this season. The 2010 National Championship season will end at midnight on Saturday, September 25, 2010. The ASA Member Track program is composed of dirt and asphalt short tracks along with road courses around the United States, as well as a variety of regional and national touring series.
