Media Release March 16, 2010 For Immediate Release Martino Motorsports Prepped For First Full Season in ADRL Competition 2010 Extreme Pro Stock Championship Chase Begins in Houston, Texas This Weekend for Mark Martino Stoney Creek, ON. – With an uncertain future for quarter-mile Mountain Motor Pro Stock racing following the conclusion of the 2009 season, the logical step for Mark Martino and his Martino Motorsports team was to commit their resources towards a full time schedule within the Extreme Pro Stock division in ADRL competition for 2010. This weekend all the off-season preparation will come to fruition at Universal Technical Institute Dragapalooza VI at Houston Raceway Park, in Baytown, Texas. Coming off of a sixth place point’s finish, the highest ever by a Canadian competitor, in his first full season in IHRA Pro Stock competition in 2009, Martino finds himself poised to challenge right off the hop for the 2010 ADRL Extreme Pro Stock Championship. During early season testing at Bradenton Motorsports Park in Bradenton, Florida, the team, including Crew Chief Eric Luzinski, quickly realized the potential of their eighth-mile set-up, ripping off a stout 4.06 second 178 mile per hour pass, only fractions of a second away from the current ADRL World Record. “That test session was a great opportunity for us to put some laps on the car in ADRL trim and see what we had to work with going to Houston” said Mark Martino. “It was also a good tune up for me having been out of the seat since October of last year and I feel that as a team we’ll be very competitive right out of the gate.” In an effort to maximize his chances at being an instant contender for the Extreme Pro Stock championship, Martino has formed a strategic alliance with the veteran ADRL team of Titan Motorsports for the 2010 ADRL season. Not only will the two teams share resources in preparing the cars and at the track, they will both look to the experience of Luzinski to establish them as top contenders on a weekly basis. Along with running a full ADRL series schedule this season, Martino plans to compete in Mountain Motor Pro Stock Association and NHRA competition, the former with a brand new RJ Race Cars Pontiac GXP, starting at the Route 66 Nationals in Joliet, Illinois June 3-6. Action gets underway at Universal Technical Institute Dragapalooza VI with the first professional qualifying session starting at 11:00am on Friday March 19th, and final eliminations scheduled to begin Saturday March 20th at 1:00pm. About Martino Motorsports Martino Motorsports has been on the track since the 1960’s when team patriarch Tony Martino first started competing at drag racing events in Ontario, Canada. In 2010 the team will operate two professional drag racing teams, running a full Extreme Pro Stock schedule in ADRL competition, while making its first foray into NHRA Pro Stock competition on a limited basis this season. Mark Martino, who serves as the driver of both cars, has been drag racing for more than 15 years and learned his craft competing in the Ontario Street Car Association. Since making the jump to the Pro Stock ranks, Martino has experienced great success having finished sixth in the 2009 IHRA point’s standings, the highest ever finish for a Canadian competitor, and recording his first professional career #1 qualifying position. Martino also recorded career bests in both elapsed time and mile per hour in 2010, covering the quarter-mile racing distance in 6.338 seconds at 222.77 miles per hour.
