Along with that announcement, the 2010 Champion will again get a tryout with Joe Gibbs Racing. "We are excited to have Joe Gibbs Racing Oil and Joe Gibbs Racing on board for the third season in a row," Dennis Huth, ASA President said. "What is so unique about this award is that it is not your typical award, which most look for is money. But many racers race for pride and for the spirit of competition. With that in mind, we felt that if we offered the opportunity to work with a top notch organization like Joe Gibbs Racing and have a shot to show them their talents, many of our competitors would rather have that opportunity then a check. In the last two years, our National Champions got more than what they expected with this award and I think its safe to say that memories last longer than money." Last year, Tommy Cloce got his opportunity. The track champion from Adirondack Speedway, an ASA Member Track in Beaver Falls, NY, spent three days in the greater Charlotte area where he was fitted in the car he was testing, given a tour of both Joe Gibbs Racing shops, and a meeting with JD Gibbs, Joe Gibbs Racing President. But the highlight was when he traveled to Dillon Motor Speedway, an ASA Member Track in Dillon, SC and had a legitimate test session with JGR headed by crew chief Mike Sibley. In 2008, Cary Stapp of Thunderhill Raceway in Kyle, TX was the first driver to get this unique opportunity. "We are very proud to be a part of this program for the third consecutive year," JD Gibbs, President of Joe Gibbs Racing said. "We have had very positive results with this program and I had the opportunity to meet two of the best short track drivers in the country. Our team also enjoyed their visits and working with them at the tryouts. This is a win-win for everyone on board and I am already looking forward to meeting the 2010 champion later this year. Good luck to all competitors." One of the biggest supporters of the ASA Member Track program is WSIB Motorsports Insurance, the official insurance providers for the American Speed Association. They provide the insurance for the ASA Member Tracks as well as ASA members in who are in good standing and are eligible for a $500,000 Excess Medical Benefit as well as a $20,000 Accidental Death and Dismemberment Benefit. Coverage for the member begins while traveling to a location promoting an ASA-sanctioned event and continues until arrival home again. The American Speed Association is the only sanctioning body to offer insurance coverage which extends beyond the boundary of the racetrack itself (complete details are available online at www.ASA-Racing.com). Also, for the third year in a row, SpeedNet Direct will be compiling and tracking the 2010 Joe Gibbs Driven Racing Oil ASA Member Track National Championship chase on their website, www.speednetdirect.com. Drivers eligible for the National Championship must race weekly at an ASA Member Track along with being the 2010 track champion. The unique formula used to determine the champion not only includes where they finished but how many positions they moved up in each feature event. Which will provide the best weekly short track racing action this season. The 2010 National Championship season will end at midnight on Saturday, September 25, 2010.
