LONDON, United Kingdom, 15 March, 2010 - Guild of Motoring Writers member Glen Smale has launched Virtual Motorpix, a new photo agency offering hundreds of thousands of previously unpublished specialised and individualistic motoring and motorsport images. These are available through his www.virtualmotorpix.com website which goes live on 15th March 2010.

Virtual Motorpix combines the resources and talents of several professional photographers from the UK, the Continent, South Africa and the USA.

Smale says Virtual Motorpix had been borne out of the notable shortage of fresh motoring and motorsport images in the market: “I discovered this when searching for new material for magazine features and books. As so many images published today are already familiar in the market place, we conducted an extensive search to find new sources of photographic material.

“We believe that we have brought together a very large collection of high-quality images, much of which has never come to market before. Our photographers all have many years of experience in the field, and have had their work published in numerous magazines and books on both sides of the Atlantic.”

Virtual Motorpix has also uncovered several fascinating photographic collections in Europe and the USA and has persuaded the present owners to make these available for motoring and motorsport enthusiasts to enjoy.

These images cover all sectors of the industry, spanning many years and many countries, and include: production vehicles (from the 1950s onwards covering all manufacturers from A-Z); motorsport (rare 1960/70s Formula 1, Prototype class, sports car racing, Indy, Moto GP, FIA GT, and much more); motor cycles; trucks; factories and plants; situational images; motor shows; and of course the personalities and competitors that make the automotive and motorsport industries work.

There is also a rich archive of photos covering ALMS, Indy, Harley-Davidson and many US production car images. Smale adds: “Our photo archive comprises a large quantity of contemporary photographs covering production vehicles, as well as rare motorsport shots from the 1960s to current. In addition, we can provide excellent photographic coverage of all the main race meetings on the current US motorsport scene.”
