Gainesville, March 13, 2010: Second generation driver, Megan Meyer has spent the past 7 years behind the wheel of her Junior Dragster and with several trophy's and a KCIR Track Championship under her belt, Megan is preparing to take her first steps into the Super Comp ranks and will kick off her debut by attending a Super Comp class at Frank Hawley's Drag Racing School this coming Tuesday 16th and Wednesday 17th of March here at Gainesville Raceway.
However before making class on Tuesday morning, Meyer will be assisting on her father's, World Championship Team Owner, Crew Chief and Driver Randy Meyer's A/Fuel Dragster throughout the weekend's GatorNational's event. Meyer is certainly no stranger to fast cars and is confident she has the skills and support needed to accomplish her goals of competing in the super comp class this season.
Although 16 year old Meyer is still a couple of years away from competing at an NHRA National event, the age minimum being 18 years, Meyer will get her feet wet competing at NHRA Divisional events and local track events at KCIR and Heartland Park Topeka over the next few years.
Kicking off the next step in her racing career this coming week, Meyer is thrilled to have the opportunity to attend Frank Hawley's Drag Racing School and will definitely feel more at ease as she will take the track in her own Super Comp Dragster.
"I am just incredibly excited to have the opportunity to race and pilot such a beautiful and amazing super comp dragster. With the help of my family, friends and sponsors, I will hopefully have a successful launch with it. I am most excited about attending Frank Hawley's school and learning new information about drag racing. With a bit of luck, you will see me in the winner's circle soon!"
With her future goals firmly set on reaching the Top Alcohol Dragster class and hopefully sliding into the driver's seat of her dad's A/Fuel Dragster, there is certainly a new and exciting energy surrounding the Meyer pit area this weekend and with the winning genes in her blood, Megan Meyer will certainly be one to watch in future years.
