DAYTONA BEACH, March 11, 2010: Building on GRAND-AM Road Racing and BMW's previously announced contingency award program for BMW-powered and BMW cars in the 2010 GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16 and the GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge, GRAND-AM Road Racing and BMW of North America officials today announced that the luxury automaker has signed on to participate in GRAND-AM's 2010 Manufacturers Official Promotional Partner Program for 2010 as well.
In addition to all BMW teams in the Rolex Series and the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge carrying approved BMW decals earning prize money bonuses from BMW, GRAND-AM also announces BMW as the latest "Official Promotional Partner of GRAND-AM," which provide them with the rights to use GRAND-AM marks, logos, images and video. Additional joint marketing efforts will be provided by GRAND-AM throughout the season.
BMW celebrated its first Daytona Prototype victory of the season last Saturday at Homestead-Miami Speedway when co-drivers Scott Pruett and Memo Rojas co-drove the No. 01 TELMEX Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates BMW Riley to victory in the Grand Prix of Miami. It was BMW's first overall victory in Rolex Series competition since winning at Laguna Seca on May 17, 2008.
"The manufacturers provide the backbone for both the Rolex Series and the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge, and we believe that our new Promotional Partner Program provides our manufacturers with an innovative and cost-effective way to promote their involvement in our series," said Kevin Hindson, GRAND-AM Vice President, Marketing and Communications, "BMW is the second manufacturer to sign on as an Official Promotional Partner of GRAND-AM, but there are several more to be announced over the coming weeks. GRAND-AM has more manufacturer involvement than any other race series with 19 approved brands able to compete; ideally, every manufacturer in both of the GRAND-AM series will participate in this program. We are working diligently toward that goal."
The next event for the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series will be the Porsche 250 at Barber Motorsports Park on April 10 (SPEED live, 1:30 p.m. ET). MRN Radio will also broadcast the race live beginning at 1:15 p.m. ET on select MRN affiliates and on SIRIUS NASCAR Radio - XM 128. The next Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge race is scheduled for 4 p.m. CT, also on April 10.
