The couple is getting ready for their second year of owning the famed "Fastest 1/4-mile Asphalt Track in Texas." "This year is going to be a whole lot better, our car count is looking real good," Kandy Monroe said. "We will have a fifth division added this year called the Front Runners which is a beginner division. There will be bigger things this year, last year was our first year of owning the track so this year will be better along with knowing your way around." Dan has been working at the track for quite some time and last year he and Kandy bought the facility and signed up as an ASA Member Track. "We are extremely pleased with our association with ASA," Kandy said. "They are very good to work with and they also provided great customer service when we had an insurance claim." With Corpus Christi Speedway being an ASA Member Track, they are helping getting more people aware of the American Speed Association, "ASA is fairly new to the area," Kandy commented. "Nobody knew what they were really about. But after seeing the service they provide not only for the track but for the competitors, the ASA name is getting more noticed." Corpus Christi Speedway will open this weekend with the Steel Monster Truck Tour on March 12-14th. Their 2010 regular season will open on March 27th. During the off-season, the Monroe's have been busy making improvements to the facility. Some of the improvements the fans will see this season is a new ticket booth and a lot of work on the stands and the grounds overall making Corpus Christi more family friendly. "Dan and Kandy have done a great job in their first year as the operators of Corpus Christi Speedway," Dennis Huth, ASA President said. "We look forward to working with them on establishing their track as a premier facility in Texas. They have the fastest 1/4-mile track in the big state and that brings exciting racing each week." Corpus Christi Speedway located at 241 Flato Road, Corpus Christi, Tx 78405 is one of the oldest racetracks in the country that has been in continual operation. The high-banked quarter-mile asphalt track built in 1945, hosts drifting events on Fridays, Texas True Stock, Texas Thunder, Super Street and Southern Pro-4's on Saturday evenings, and Super Kart events on Sundays.
