The trio of Funny Car champions settled into their seats at Tulare Thunderbowl Raceway, located 45 minutes south of Fresno, for an evening of dirt track racing and reminiscing. Scelzi’s passion for dirt track racing has been growing exponentially as his two sons, Dominic and Giovanni, continue to develop as drivers. Robert Hight has had an interest in following a wide variety of motorsports and his attention has been drawn to the sprint cars thanks to a new neighbor at their Brownsburg, Ind., racing facility. Elite Racing is a new tenant in Brownsburg and Hight has been tracking the progress of their driver Jason Meyers including seeing the highlights of Meyers’ nearly legendary comeback win - from 18th to 1st - in Las Vegas two weeks ago.“I saw the highlights of Jason’s win in Las Vegas on WindTunnel with Dave Despain. It was unbelievable. It was great to see him in action in person in Tulare. He is a great guy and super driver. John and I enjoyed seeing the sprint cars and hanging out with Scelzi is always fun. The fans were also really welcoming. We signed a lot of autographs and posed for tons of photos,?? said Hight.During a stoppage in action Force and Hight both got a chance to talk with the capacity crowd. They received a warm reception and Force encouraged them to come down to the March Meet or get to an NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series event in the near future.“Let me tell you being here with Gary Scelzi and the new champ (Hight) is great. This is an awesome sight to see. I hope you all get down to the March Meet at Auto Club Famoso Raceway this weekend. If you can’t get to the March Meet I want to invite you all to come see me, Ashley (Force Hood) and Robert anytime so we can show you what our Ford Mustang hot rods can do. We don’t make left turns but we put on a great show,?? said Force.Throughout the evening as Force and Hight moved through the crowd they could hear constant chants of “Way to go champ!?? and “I can’t believe John Force is here!?? fly in their direction. All three Funny Car champions signed a wide variety of hats, shirts, and tickets for thrilled fans.
