Fluke 233/A Automotive Digital Multimeter Kit brings wireless technology to automotive technicians

Detachable display makes it easy to read when test connections are difficult, saving time, increasing safety and ease of use

Everett, Wash. - Fluke Corporation, the global leader in portable electronic test and measurement technology, announced today the new Fluke 233/A Wireless Remote Display Automotive Digital Multimeter Kit, the industry's first digital multimeter with a detachable wireless display, designed specifically for automotive troubleshooting.

By simply sliding the wireless display out of the meter body of the Fluke 233/A, the technician can place the display where it is most easily seen - up to 10 meters (33 feet) from the point of measurement - while putting the meter in the best position to take measurements. The removable display has a magnetic back and flat bottom so it can be mounted or placed on any flat surface where it can be conveniently seen. When the display is attached to the meter body, the Fluke 233/A operates as a conventional multimeter.

The detachable wireless display lets the user:

· Find a comfortable position to view and record test data, even when the test location is hard to reach or in a dirty or noisy environment.

· Attach test leads to brake lights while sitting in the driver's seat, pressing the brake pedal and viewing the display.

· Safely view under-hood measurements on moving vehicles.

· Separate the tasks of positioning the meter and reading test results, devoting full attention to each job-and working more safely.

· Run tests and read results at a safe distance from high-voltage, high-current systems.

Designed by Fluke engineers and manufactured at the Fluke worldwide headquarters in Everett, Washington, the Fluke 233/A is safety rated for use in CAT III 1000V, CAT IV 600V working environments. This is important for technicians working on hybrid vehicles, which routinely use high-voltage, high-current systems not found on conventional vehicles.

The 233/A uses a low-power 2.4 GHz ISM Band wireless signal that is resistant to electromagnetic interference from ignition systems and other EMI sources, and will not interfere with other nearby electronic devices. The radio transmitter automatically turns on when the display is removed from the meter and shuts off when the display is reattached.

Designed for both convenience and safety, the Fluke 233/A kit includes the following:

*	Fluke 233/A remote display multimeter
*	Test leads
*	Alligator clips
*	Thermocouple probe
*	Soft carry case
*	Magnetic meter hanging strap
*	Automotive backprobe pins

Also included in the kit is a training DVD to help technicians get the most from their Fluke test tools.

The Fluke 233/A will measure up to 1000 V ac and dc and perform current measurements up to 10 amps. It features a 10,000 µF capacitance range, measures frequencies to 50 kHz and captures min/max and average readings automatically. It features a 6,000-count display and includes a built-in thermometer that enables users to take temperature readings easily without carrying a separate instrument. The meter body is powered by three AA batteries; the display has two AA batteries. Average battery life is 400 hours. An auto-off feature maximizes battery life.

Pricing and Availability

The Fluke 233/A Wireless Remote Display Multimeter kit is available immediately at a suggested retail price of $399.95. Product details can be found at www.fluke.com/233A.
