Opportunity of a Lifetime for Young Aspiring Racer
![]() |
Margate, FL, March 5, 2010: Brian Blum, at the young age of 19, has a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity with the Petty Driver Search program. Propelled forward by his desire to succeed and his dream of making it into a prestigious series, Brian applied for the Petty Driver Search program with literally hundreds of other applicants. Brian was selected as one of the final 12 drivers by the Petty group to compete at famous race tracks located in North and South Carolina in an ARCA car, a USAC Midget and a Sprint Cup car. The program will take place April 26th through the 29th, 2010. Brian will have a 1-in-12 chance of winning the competition. The grand prize is to compete in the ARCA Series race at Pocono, as the official driver of a Petty prepared car.
Brian began racing at the age of 7, competing in go-karts and winning several titles, including two regional and two local championships, as well as winning two national events in The World Karting Association races. In 2005, Brian raced in the Fastruck Series and excelled in his division to win 5 races spanning across Florida and Georgia racetracks. After two years, Brian decided he was ready to take on the ranks of late model racing and began competing in the ASA Late Model Series in the #3 car. As of 2009, Brian's late model stats include numerous second place finishes, a handful of third place finishes and only a select number of finishes outside of the top 10. The word "can't" isn't in Blum's mental dictionary; his love for racing originated in his heart and that passion is what drives him into his relentless pursuit of being the best race car driver.
This opportunity could help Blum continue his racing career and race beside some of history’s best wheelmen. Without the help of those who understand his passion and true driver spirit, Brian can’t reach his ultimate goal. Many of NASCAR’s best have come from racing at a young age to becoming a superspeedway star. That is Brian’s dream, and with your help and support, this young aspiring driver can make his dreams come true.
"Brian is a good kid and he needs a break, just like people gave me when I started my career.”
– Racing Legend Darrell Gwynn
At this point, we have raised over $5,000, towards our goal of $15,000 (cost to compete in Petty driver search program).
