Cytec Engineered Materials Honored With Alenia Aeronautica Innovation Award

WOODLAND PARK, N.J.--Cytec Industries Inc. announced that its Cytec Engineered Materials business unit was honored with the Alenia Aeronautica Special Award for innovation for Research. The team composed by Alenia Aeronautica (Structures and Materials & Processes departments), Salerno University and Cytec received the honor for work on improving composite electrical properties for aerospace structure applications. The prize rewards innovation achieved in collaboration with suppliers and academic institutions.

“We believe the ability to actively collaborate with your suppliers to advanced thinking and design in aerospace opens more opportunities for innovation”

“We believe the ability to actively collaborate with your suppliers to advanced thinking and design in aerospace opens more opportunities for innovation,” said Alessandra Saroglia, R&D Director for Alenia Aeronautica. “We are excited to receive such a high honor from one of our valuable partners,” said Chris Pederson, Vice President of Commercial, Aerospace. “The aerospace market demands extremely high reliability, accuracy and performance; all qualities that are aligned perfectly with our reputation for working closely with our customers in the design and manufacturing of high quality advanced materials and structures.”

This is the second collaborative award for Alenia Aeronautica and Cytec. The first recognition was in 2007 for work done on integrated frames for a commercial aerospace program. This latest proposal was selected among 100 other proposals in the many fields of technology Alenia Aeronautica is involved.

“As we further focus on serving our customers, we continue to solidify our position as a trusted partner of choice,” adds Pederson.
