Ragin' Cajun Storms Palm Beach Road Race
Rain Doesn't Dampen Martin's Performance - Finishes 11th

Palm Beach, FL: It was a weekend of firsts for the ARCA series presented by RE/MAX and Menard's and Hal "the Ragin' Cajun" Martin, driver of the #59 Abundant Energy Dodge. Martin was ready to take on the challenge of his first road course at Palm Beach International Raceway in the Tire Kingdom 150 presented by Modspace, but did not know he would be making history in ARCA's first race in the rain.

After a few sprinkles of rain during the prerace ceremonies, drivers were able to start the race on a dry course. This suited Martin well, who started 17th and made a quick jump to 7th on the very first lap. As the field began to settle into the 75 lap road course, Martin found himself comfortably in the top ten for the first ten laps. Just after the first caution, on lap eleven, Martin spun out but was able to get back in control with no damage to the car. This caused "The Ragin' Cajun" to move towards the back of the field in 25th position.

As he began to charge forward to reclaim his position in the top fifteen, Mother Nature made other plans. On lap 25, during a caution, the field came in to the pits to make the change to the Hoosier Rain tires for the first time in the series' 58 year history.

Throughout the on again off again rain conditions, Martin was able to keep his composure and move into the 12th position by lap 47. By lap 70, Martin was able to gain one more position before series officials threw the checkered flag due to heavy rain.

"I think we really had a great race. For my first road course, I felt comfortable and was able to get adjusted quickly during practice and qualifying. The crew was absolutely amazing. The rain definitely gave us an extra challenge throughout the race," said Martin.
