Tesoro Hawaii Refinery Reports No Effect from Tsunami
SAN ANTONIO--The predicted tsunami wave that resulted from the earthquake in Chile landed on the island of Oahu early this afternoon. Tesoro’s Kapolei refinery reported no damage from the wave and is in the process of raising rates back to normal. Planned rates are expected to be realized within the next 12 hours.
Terminal operations remain closed until all clear signals are received from the government. Tesoro does not anticipate fuel shortages and supplies should soon return to normal. Seven retail sites that were closed due to potential water damage will also reopen upon receiving the all clear message.
Tesoro will continue its commitment to not raise fuel prices during this time of recovery for the state of Hawaii.
