National Technical Systems Adds New Testing Facilities
New Laboratories Complement Existing Facilities to Meet Expanding Workload
CALABASAS, Calif., Feb. 24 -- National Technical Systems, Inc. (NTS), a leading provider of engineering services, announced today that it has opened two new engineering services and testing laboratories, one in California and another in Texas, to complement existing facilities and accommodate its expanding workload.
"These new facilities represent a major expansion for NTS and are a natural outgrowth of our strategy to become a more integrated engineering and testing service organization," said Chief Executive Officer William C. McGinnis. "We are expanding and transforming the Company, and we need to add more complementary services, in most cases in conjunction with facilities we have already established. The addition of these facilities provides our customers a complete offering of services within their regions, and opens the door to new customers for a full range of their product testing and engineering services needs."
The new Climatic, Environmental and Dynamics Product Testing Laboratory, a more than 30,000-square foot custom-built facility, is based in close proximity to the Company's existing test facilities in the Silicon Valley in California. A wide range of state-of-the-art testing equipment is intended to add complementary services to the existing facilities, which are focused on EMC, product safety, international certifications and wireless testing services. The new capabilities will enable NTS Silicon Valley to offer a more complete NEBS testing solution for the telecom equipment manufacturers in the area.
The new capabilities make NTS Silicon Valley a viable location for Bay Area manufacturers who have had to take their testing requirements to laboratories outside the region to meet their full range of needs.
In Plano, TX, a new laboratory has been built that will support the Company's Plano facility and double its size, from 25,000 to 50,000 square feet. NTS Plano provides EMI/EMC/ESD testing services to a wide variety of industries, with expertise in testing to military, aerospace, telecommunications, and other industry specifications. NTS certifies telecommunications products to Network Equipment Building System (NEBS) requirements as well as international standards. NTS also provides complete certification of information technology, industrial, and other commercial electronic products to global EMC. Military and aerospace capabilities include 200V/m to 40GHz, as well as indirect effects lightning and multiple burst/multiple stroke lightning up to Level 5. NTS Plano has six shielded chambers, all of which are semi-anechoic and two of which are three-meter FCC listed chambers. The Company's new EMI chamber with its 62-foot length, 36-foot width and 24-foot height will support testing requirements for unmanned vehicles (UVs), military vehicles as well as the unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) market.
NTS Plano is also a full-service environmental test facility capable of managing environmental test programs, both commercial and military. The Company's technicians and engineers are recognized experts in the performance of a wide array of environmental simulations including thermal, shock, seismic, and vibration to name a few. Capabilities include more than 20 different chamber, shaker, and drop tower test platforms.
