The day included an opportunity to sight in their guns then go on a hunt where 35 animals were harvested and will be processed for an upcoming barbecue. The event was co-organized by Alex Tradd, one of the tech officials of the ASA Transcontinental Series Free State 500 event that took place recently at the Phakisa Freeway Circuit in Welkom, Free State, South Africa. "This is only a small way for us to do something special for these heroes," Tradd said. "The soldiers came with their escorts and enjoyed the opportunity to go game hunting. It was a pleasure to do this for the soldiers that protect our country." This was the first of a two-part event. The second part will take place in May when Chef Thomas Andrysiak from YO Ranch along with volunteers, friends, and sponsors will prepare a full barbecue for the recovering wounded warriors, their families and the entire staff at Brooke Army Medical Center. A television film crew from Veterans Outdoors came to film the hunt and will also film the big barbecue in May. The show will air in August on Fox Sports Network. "We are very honored to support the 2010 Wounded Warrior Hunt," Dennis Huth, ASA President said. "These soldiers went into the field of battle to protect our country and we thank them and their families for the sacrifice they made to preserve our freedom.
