TrailReady Beadlocks cruised onto Johnson Valley's Means Dry Lake to play David in this, the 4th Chapter of the King of the Hammers battle. Goliath was of course, the competition, the Official Wheel of the event, and had filled the field with soldiers on shiney new wheels. In the end however, the story ended as it usually does, with TrailReady towering over the battered competition. Loren Healy beat Brad Lovell to the finish line by a mere 28 seconds, both of them rolling on TrailReady's HD17 Beadlock wheel. Trailready Beadlocks crowded the top of the leader board. For Rubio, who has raced Parker for 15+ years, the past two have been tough. Tracy's long time mentor and Offroad racing legend, Manny Esquerra, passed away while at the wheel of the #18 TT duing the 2008 event, and in 2009 while running Manny's familiar Motorcraft paint scheme as a tribute to the legend, the truck was crashed hard, ultimately resulting in a DNF. For Trim, after a win in the 2007 Parker event, 08 and 09 ended while in 3rd and 1st respectively, with mechanical problems within 30 miles of the finish line. Now working together, we hoped to get a good result after the success the team had in our first three races together in 09. Rubio qualified the truck 11th amoung 27 Trick Trucks, and ran a clean first lap, battling with and passing the #57 and duking it out with Clyde Stout in the #13, before handing the truck off to Trim who would drive lap 2. Lap two was a lap of attrition which saw us click off another consistant 2:40 minute lap, while passing several other TT's on the side of the course and coming into main pit 4th on the course while Rubio got back in to take it to the finish. 90 miles later at Midway, the report came back that the 97 of B. J Baldwin was first on the course and we are second. We didn't bother to caculate corrected time on the trucks running behind us, but headed to the finish to celebrate a good day. You guessed it. The report came in that we broke about 20 miles from the finish with a broken bolt/mangled bracket in a rear link. it's dejavu all over again. The one hour repair was followed by a 10-15mph limp in and an 11th place finish. But the TNC Machine got its 3rd consecutive finish and the team continues to run with the leaders.
